Philips D8634

Hey guys, already bored by my "found new box postings"? Found this one. Bought it from a 11 year old kid yesterday evening. He was asking 5 euros for it. Gave him 15, cause he had no idea what he was selling. Ghettoblaster? Huh lol? So gave him the price I normally pay for a D8614. Made both of us happy

This one definitely needs a good clean. Amazingly everything still works. Even the cassette. Sure it breaks down in the near future, they all do. Its pretty rare over here compared to D8614. Never saw one for sale over here actually. It sounds good, just like the 8614. Its basically the same thing I guess. Hope this is gonna be a nice box if cleaned. Expect Lav to be big fan of these haha

Enjoy the pics of a very dirty project box!

Had one a few years back Michiel got mine for a £10 off a fruit and veg stall on a market lol, it was covered in dried tomato seeds and tomato juice stains got her home and she scrubbed up lovely.

Great sound on these like the 8614 but I personally prefer the 8614 look wise still it's a very nice box and for 5 euros it's an absolute steal.

Congrats on the score

Since 8614 and 8734 have the exact speakers, there is a great possibility that this one haves the same speakers. 3 or 5 watts, can-t remember exactly.

nice box....infact it,s the mk2 of the d8614 but to me they look the other way around!

michiel - 2013-09-16 06:49

Thanks guys! It indeed doesn't look like a mk2 at all. More like its predecessor as it looks so vintage because of the big speaker grills. Definitely have to get those grills of, its really really really dirty inside there. The compressor wont solve this one

Wonder what has happened with this box. It looks like its covered with nicotine but it doesn't smell like, think it has been standing in a kitchen or something. Gonna start with a good rub with Savon de Marseille tonight.

Yeah it's hard to believe this is the mkll version? not sure what the speaker wattage is but the 8614 throws out 20 watts pmpo which is very respectable

I will open her up and check the speakers. It's shitty I need to clean behind the grills, because this box isn't in need for an internal investigation at all  She's working great at the mo! Also the filth flies of with some soap! I love it haha

I can't help it getting new boxes. I just love to fix and play with them. Every new box is like a new adventure. And they just keep popping up! I think all local collectors are sleeping or something  If there are any.
