thats one of the best looking and best sounding boxes you will ever pic up

--nice going

northerner - 2013-09-17 23:35

I agree with Ira Except I reckon it is THE best looking box out there

Congrats Keith

michiel - 2013-09-18 01:17

What a nice one! Congrats with this beautiful grail!

ao - 2013-09-18 01:58

Never really understood why the MX 920 never attracted anything close to M90 status.

cris -the m90 sound is so very far more than just hype or 'status' ...

not one box --1 piece //3 piece// 12 piece etc can even come close to the

beautiful and expansive ( NO wide mode or ambience or any of that crap )

high end output of the m90  -

the tosh s90 is the clear 2nd best at that --but not in the m90 league-

plus --even at the lowest volume --it has bass you can FEEL

----------------

the very pretty 920 cant do 1/2 that.

sort of a sissy box vs. an m90

northerner - 2013-09-18 08:15

The 920 ain't no sissy box!! It might not be as good as an M90 but its a fantastic machine.

Sissy?...never!!!

radio.raheem - 2013-09-18 08:16

I agree the 920 is only half an m90 but i think your over stretching the m90 a bit there

ira....having said that i have spent years saying the same thing lol...for sure there is no 1 piece id rather have

redbenjoe - 2013-09-18 08:34

reno and northerner --can i take it back --?? haha

the lovely 920 is not a total screaming sissy box --

radio.raheem - 2013-09-18 08:47

i don't have my 920 now ira lol but maybe your wright lad....i say the kaboom dp200 is better than the m90 by alot...but i tell you this there is no other box that i come back

too more than the m90 for such a satisfactory and pleasurable listen..if you ask me....i honestly cant tell you why....my kabooms hardly ever get used....my m90 is waiting to be sent for repairs...and i already have major withdrawal symptoms as its packed away ready to send

what is so special about the m90 that NO other box can match in history are the highs....anyway i'll piss of now....me and ira have doubled the value of the m90 yet again lol

radio.raheem - 2013-09-18 09:21

and northner si....re our chat.. at the moment i have decided to stay...i couldn't do without stopping by and creating a rucas and saying hi to members like litfan ira

AO driptip....well all the old time members.....you both have great sanyo 920s guys

just a shame i didn't evaluate mine a little longer before selling

deech - 2013-09-18 09:26

Great pics MrKeith !

The mx920 is a big and pretty box !

Never had an M90 to compare it but

its one of the best i own.

northerner - 2013-09-18 09:40

Glad your still gonna cause trouble Reno

And Ira I'll let you take back the sissy comment and I'll even call off the international hitman I hired too

All I know is that I love the 920, I don't need it to be better than the M90

deech - 2013-09-18 09:45

RR how about a Crown CSC950 for your Tosh HR-01 ?

Does this sound good to you?

Can even trade  a Silver ST-858

retro - 2013-09-18 09:49

Hi , I still have my Sanyo MX920 from 1981 !

I loved it but it's got some problems which I'd like to sort out eg the sound crackles especially when you turn the dials (it hasn't been used for quite some time). I'm based in the UK. Does anyone know where I could get this overhauled ?

tster - 2015-02-19 07:56

Just get a tin of Servisol or Deoxit and spray the pots and work back and forth a few times, that will solve the crackling.

I am in the usa - so I don't know where over there you can get your radio serviced at  - but this has been my issue with my Sanyo M-X920 in this switch I believe - and it is really hard to do - so I am on the look out for a good service person for mine but I am in no hurry as I have so many and this is not at the top of my list of to do's.  Here is a view of ( I think the issue with mine is located )  IMG_0612 tuner switch SANYO M-X920 inside

Hi JamesRC550

Need help, for my SANYO M-X920LU. The blue ribbon with metalic shaft on the TUNER band potentiometer broke. Any idea where I can get replacement part? Even the ribbon itself would do just fine...

Thanks

andyboombox - 2015-05-07 07:50

I would ask this ebay seller as he has these other parts that go inside so maybe he may have the part you are looking for.  I have heard of other people buying from this person with success for parts for their boombox's

ebay links given ( not Mine )

(SANYO M-X920LU = You have)

Seller information icedmelon702 (546)

see other items of his and search for ( Sanyo 920 )

If he has this above part he should for certain have the part you need unless he has sold it and or ask him  How long it would take him to get One?

Never see this one in person. It seems to be of very good quality, full of metal . Is it the top of the line from Sanyo, or is that the Bigben? Is it on par with S90 or 7200? Any chance to challenge the 5350 or M90.

Quite curious to know guys. Thanks.

Toshiba RT-S90 Feature Laden Fancy box.
JVC RC-M90 Feature Laden Fancy box.
National Panasonic RX-7200 Feature Laden Fancy box.
Sanyo M-X960K Big Ben is different with a powered woofer.
Sanyo M-X920 Top of the line, best sounding at normal levels.
National Panasonic RX-5350 has best sound.

Very pretty box but I'm afraid it doesn't challenge any of the above boxes soundwise. It sounds nice but not a powerhouse. I got an 'F' version last year. Deck repaired, tuner re-strung and fully working but still have some cosmetics to sort out.

Sounds like your not smitten Rudey, in which case bear me in mind if you decide she gots to go!!

litfan - 2015-05-12 11:40

I was never impressed with mine. Alway's thought it was weird looking. Those cheapo graphic's on the speakers, spoil it, lmho, of course.

tster - 2015-05-12 12:50

Its my personal grail and I think its gorgeous. I have a pic of Northerners as my desktop for a fair while now so I get to see it every day

litfan - 2015-05-12 14:03

A minor

Good for you ts. I think, I'm in a minority.

It's a strange one. When I first switch it on I'm kind of underwhelmed. But leave it on for for an hour and it seems to warm up and starts  to sound warm and nice. Once I get the grilles and speakers painted then it will be a solid 7.5 out of ten.
