Normally i am only looking for "oldscool" blasters. But when i found this, it was a "must have"!
I have found in the net an Panasonic RX - ED77!
This box looks like a landing spaceglider.
An egg-blaster i would never buy, but this one is quiet nice looking.
It was offered in the local netbasar for only 10euros! Fully working with remote control!
So i went to "Bad Vöslau" near Vienna to get it.
And it was the trip worth!

So it looks closed:


Pushing an button and the "message board" opens electrically:


The CD-Player, the autoreverser tapedecks, everything works fully remote controlled:

First i thought it can´t sound good with the small speaker grills.
But the speakers are horizontal mounted and much bigger than it looks.
Pushing the "sound virtualizer" button and the bass gets amazing.
This box is an "new generation grail" for me!
There are so many functions, i´ve not checked all yet.

This box is not small!

Ahhh... that's what the ED-77 looks like. That's very sinister looking. And Star Wars was released in 1977. Is that more than coincidence?

the big cobra top boxes are awesome. they dont need any appologies they do sound fantastic. they might not be as bassy as a kaboom but the sound of them is really well rounded and they sound wonderful.
as for the looks i dont see these as typical eggs. they are very hi quality portable stereos.
the 707 i got in the summer really opened my ears to the cobra top boxes.

If anyone gets offered such box in good condition and quiet cheap - take it! You can´t go wrong!
I got it from a young girl (~20).
She first wanted to throw it away!!

But her friend tried to offer it in the netbasar!

This box is perfect as daily player.
I like it!

Apart from those addicted to straight lines, silver & chrome, most hold the cobra-top Panasonics in high regard.
I'd love one, but I'll bet they're a nightmare to fix...?
