eh up guys
my boombox buying days are complete! i will not be buying anymore now, as i have totally run out of space and have nowhere to get them all out on show at once.
of course the box is still my first passion, and ill still be on here all the time, bugging you lot and seeing what all you other guys are buying.
in particular thanks to steve (mansion), paul (pacwestuk),bendy cat,amanda (fuzzy duck), geoff (geoff halliwell) for all your kind advice, your purchases and everything else related to the box.
if i free up any more space, i shall of course start buying again.
but with a tiny room and my old folks against me, this could be a while coming.

You could always save some space by getting rid of a few to purchase some grails. To me, half the fun is sacrificing a box in order to get a better one....

Just Learn to sleep standing up...thats the bed gone and a bit more room for the boxes

ANDY....YOU HAVE GOT THE SAME PROBLEM AS ME...SPACE......MY MRS WONT LET ME PUT MORE SHELVES UP IN THE HALLWAY AND LANDING OR EVEN OVER THE BABY COT SO IVE ONLY GOT 9 ON DISPLAY IN MY OFFICE NOW......IVE HAD TO BOARD THE LOFT OUT AND PUT THEM UP THERE......THERE ARE A FEW SHELVES BUT NOW I HAVE TO PUT THEM SIDEWAYS ON.......IVE EVEN GONE TO MY MUMS AND ASK HER IF I CAN STORE SOME THERE BUT SHE DONT UNDERSTAND EITHER.......ANYWAY CONVINCE YOUR FOLKS THAT ITS YOUR NEST EGG FOR THE FUTURE OR YOUR GONNA PASS THEM ON TO THIER GRANDKIDS......WORKED FOR ME...........GOOD LUCK

i had the same problem as you man, i went for quality over quantity in the end, best way. one hella cool one then only one lesser one at a time. if you just happen to get another killer box youre obliged to keep it, regardless of space, thats just the rules.

thats what ill try and do b- if i come accross any big quality ones, then ill buy some. the trouble with me is i struggle to afford the ebay purchases, where you can afford to be a little picky, because of the shipping costs,not because of the price of the boxes half the time,and all ive come accross at carboots etc are either the tiny one piece units or the really small component units. ive never even found the odd qt77 etc at the boot. i have turned up the odd nice mono box which is no problem though. but as for a bigger 1 piece or component box, nada in the wild. ive only just got my biggest component box on thursday when i met up with mansion- an hitachi trk 9100e. and damn fine it is may i say. i also picked up a jvc 3060 mono box with tv etc, an hitachi 8005e,and last but not least a panasonic sg with turntable (like yours, b).
i love my boxes- and my collecting, i do.but when in future i do get more im gonna have to be a bit more selective when looking, even if it means passing any tiddly ones at the car boot.

i know what you mean about walkmans, but they just dont cut it for me like boxes do, that is not to offend you, walkgirl, or all you walkman fans.
i guess the walkmans have their own appeal to you, i just preffer the bass and treble comin' out of 2 huge speakers, thats all.
