Greetings to all in Florida! Sunshine State! And Home of Trans-Ams, Panafans, This Sucka Jams, and Woodies!
The small contingent from Alabama and Tennessee would like to invade your state! (And of course others from GA,SC,etc. would also.) A great deal of our members here are there in orange country. But where do we meet? Somewhere in the middle would be nice so by all means lets get some suggestions going as to who/whom can be the host city most central to all. Bobby (Fatdog) can meet me here in 'Bama and we can come down together to share costs. (He can ride in the bed of my truck, the Sansui CP-7 and Rising 20/20 will ride up front with me.
) Here are some things to consider:
Where do we meet?
Do we BBQ?
Where on earth do the outsiders (Bobby & I) sleep? Without getting robbed or mugged! If you have an available garage or park bench that's fine as gas is expensive precluding a hotel. Please provide newspaper for bedding purposes.
Who brings what box? We should bring what no one else has. (Though it would be cool to bring loads of them, it makes no sense to me to bring an RX-C100/300 when Panafan has plenty.)
My wife suggested we keep it a boys only affair as she figures most of the ladies don't really want to hang around us drooling over radios all day. (And she says theres no telling what we'll want to do at night.
) She says if that happens and the wives/girlfreinds/kids are there, they'd just go shopping. Do we REALLY want our wallets drained further?
And of course WHEN?
I really would like to see the first "s2g Derrty Souf" tour come together. I hope we can pull this off. Let's hear some response!

great idea -- and really do agree that the 'leaves the wives at home bit' works best

my guess is that near to where trans am lives is the closest to the middle --
plus he has JT , Ford , danny , skill and uncle ed all within 75 miles or so (i think?)

Ok...90 views so far and I KNOW some of our Florida family has had to have seen this. UE, T/A, and others...whaddaya think? And for those geographically challenged:
I'm in the extreme west of Tampa depends on the locale with gas prices these dayz and I drive an 8 cylinder. It really sucks not having an Hybrid! I enjoyed meeting with JT but he lives very near about 40 mins. from me and believe me I really would like to meet mostly all S2G members.
I get a feeling here that you Florida Boys need to sort out locale which works best and is fair to everyone involved at least in Florida. As far as Bobby and I are concerned (and please correct me Bobby) we have the furthest to go no matter how you slice it. I know Leesburg is closer to Tampa/St. Pete, Jacksonville, and Orlando. This would mean that Miami/Daytona would have to come north more and the Pensacola area guys south. But it also helps us save a lot of scratch on hotels and such since we'll have a free place to crash. I'm sure this can be worked out. Me and Bobby are riding together, perhaps you guys could pool together? Share costs if hoels get involved? (Split the room cost.)
Let's look at it like this. If there were a convention for the Southeast as a whole regarding anything, it would've been in Atlanta most likely as it's central. And I know gas is expensive but look at what were dropping on boxes! This is what I would cosider the best opportunity to have the largest s2g get together to date.
I really need your help on this guys. I think we can pull off a day long get together, some night action (for those allowed
) and a closing breakfast. (Mainly because me and Bobby would have to hit the road. Even at Leesburg we're I'm guaranteed 8hrs of travel. Bobby has antother 2.5hrs to Smyrna, Tennessee.)

Hi oldschool69-I probably can't make it because I travel to Minneapolis and Atlanta alot to work this summer.But if the location and date worked for me I could meet you at the location but if it's in florida I probably couldn't until Nov. or later.
I'm only 6 hours to Atlanta.
I travel like crazy-I put on over 30,000 a year!

I think Orlando would be pretty central for Florida, leesburg is about 1/2 hour NorthWest of Orlando. I actally live between the 2 and am not trying to steer anyone's choice closer to me. My dad used to have a house near Clearwater on the West coast of Florida and it took me roughly 2 hours to get there. tallahasee traffic wise is a nightmare. As for the heat, don't worry about July as it is already in the high 90's here now, I work outside and I KNOW!! LOL. Anyway let me know what you eventually decide I'm in.

my daughter lives in Tallahassee and the child is due in July. I was planing on taking a trip late july or Aug If it is around the time I am there count me in. I would spend a day or 2 in Tallahassee and then hit up some of my friends in St. Pete. so i will be on either side.
Well, here's a novel idea... why don't we use the same weekend as the 1st European S2GO Boombox Meeting, which would be July 26-27. We could make it a worldwide event!
Get the news crew's out there with their satilite link hookup ( for free ) ( both Places ) then we could communicate to both side's of the planet and truely make it special on that date ... Just a random thought ...

Hi redbenjoe-I'll try to attend especially if I know the dates this far in advance.
If I sell my car like I have to this July then I know I can make it,I'd stay in Daytona Beach-I can hotels for next to nothing that time of year and it's only 2-2.5 hours away.
