My favorite BBX is the one that you see right here, the Realistic SCR-2. It still travels with me today!!!

My favorite of all time is Pioneer's SK-95, I'm on the market for one, and for a Realistic SCR-1!!!

'NUFF SAID

The Panasonic RX-CT800.

Great pic Davebush! Smile
I think I don't have a favourite one.If that one was to be found I guess I stoped my hunting.I like every one for a different reason. And I keep it like favourite for a while till anoyher one takes its place(new entry or for other reason).
At this time my fav is the JVC rc 838.
And some of the reasons are:
-very good built quality
-I like the way it looks
-The tuner is fantastic with its very sensitive reception-the mobile phone doesn't influence it at all when in use even at a 2 inches of distance -for others I have to keep a considerable distance
-sounds very good
-the VU-s are showing the record level when recording(the record quality on tapes is very good) and the power level when playing and they are very accurate and it's a pleasure to watch them working.
Sorry for my long post. Big Grin

really? I've heard those are nice units. How does it compare to the kaboom and the DT680?

retro.addict - 2009-11-15 10:06

My favourite is my minty Sharp GF-777Z.

2steppa - 2009-11-15 11:25

Without getting into the plusses & minuses of all my boxes, my immediate response would be the JVC M70; obviously a product of much thought and time by JVC and really a box I'd recommend to anyone without hesitation.
The sound really is something incredible even on my somewhat 'below par' example! Build quality is exemplary with the exception of those nasty sliders and looks-wise it just sets the standard of 'classic' boomboxes.

First off, the C-100 is esthetically 50X nicer to look at than the dull/boring Kaboom and the dull/boring DT680...both of which have the "cd" & the digital display which isn't old skool enough for me. They both have no fancy lights or chrome "bling" nor no "street cred" which is what i personally like about the C-100 Big Grin

With that being said, for sheer mass volume, the C-100 will easily over power the Kaboom & DT680. The DT680 is one of the BEST sounding units out there with a warm rich sound...the big Kabooms have amazing bass but IMHO that's about it...which is why i sold all of mine. I personally like the sound of the smaller Kabooms better than the big ones Big Grin

I have 31 C-100's...some sound better/louder than others but for the most part they ALL have incredible sound. Others will disagree but once you know how to set your C-100 controls...watch out...they are mega powerul and are very loud...and IMO well built! The C-100 is one of the few boxes that i take outside with me when i hit the streets...i also like the J-1 Jumbo Big Grin

You sold me! I now need a c-100! Oldskool did an excellent write-up on this box some time ago.

My Crown 850.....easily the best-looking 1-piece in my biased opinion

drew - 2009-11-16 16:39

Favorite honors goes to an early high end unit - the Sony CF-580. They're not big and bad, but build quality is amazing and it's unusual matrix speaker system gives true "wide" sound.

There were not many bbx's that could out perform this Sony back in 1976.

viennasound - 2009-11-16 22:24

My favourite one this days:
PHILIPS

retro.addict - 2009-11-17 00:05

^ Those D8734's are huge, and definately impressive to look at. I've had the good fortune of seeing one in person, and the misfortune of stupidly turning it dowm. To this day, I wish I'd took it home with me.

isolator42 - 2009-11-18 08:49

aha, one of the "James Bond" boomers. This one from A View To A Kill... Smile

gsbadbmr,

You say the the C-100 is your favourite box but I must say that your avtar doesn't give us any clue about this at all.
