Thanks for the link.

If the boombox "is going the way of the vinyl record", we should be seeing an increase in boombox sales any day now (as vinyl is making a comeback).

Yeah I seen that segment on boomboxes on an earlier post. It ran nation wide so many people are now aware of 'us' boombox fanatics. That's too bad. It means more people either going after boxes or the price going up. I care about the former because there will be fewer out there to find; I am a collector so I don't plan on selling mine unless needed. I've been collecting vinyl as well even longer for about 15 years now and I read in my local newpaper the popularity of vinyl coming back as well. Oh well, guess we'll just have to deal with it.

Rare and underground is where its at. If everyone and their mother has a ghettoblaster this thing is going down just like anything else.

I doubt it will, theres just so many out there..unless the repop market catches fire, which I don't think will.

I think the only reason that story was done was because someone at ABC was flitting through ebay and saw some of the high prices on radios and asked the question 'why?' as the rest of the story seems to just qualify those prices.

It might inspire some people who see it who have one in their garage or stored away will put it on ebay instead of throwing it out so one of us can find it in the wild.

It might generate a little bit more interest in the short term, but collecting these things is something you need to really dedicate a LOT of time and/or money to in order to get going. I think the true passion and love of these radios isn't going to be borne out of a short piece on the news but regardless of any increase in prices it generates that best thing it did was put a lot of positive feelings towards them and if that results in one less radio being trashed so one of us can save it, then that story has already done us collectors a lot more good than harm.

Lyle was also awesome in it. The dude's an inspiration.

Rock On.

I'm glad it didn't play in Canada Smile

well if it does catch on,i for one will be screwed,i`ve not not the type of money that boxes will start to fetch..i think i would just jump on the band wagon and sell mine and cash in...just keep a couple of my faves..

Lets not forget the economy blows too, which will always have an effect on sales. You might get the occasional freak auction (like those Lasonics on Ebay lately)but I don't see it getting out of control.
