pioneer sk-71 - Should I Buy It???

newjackrichie - 2009-07-17 15:28

I was at an electronics garage sale today and there was a Pioneer SK-71 for $60. It looks pretty mint and plays great.

Is it worth that much?

teamstress - 2009-07-17 16:17

Well I'd say, if you like it,and want to pay that much than do it. It's all in how you feel about it,whether you think it's too much. Try offering less, see what happens.

You are right. I did like it so I went back and got it. And I'm glad I did because when I went back there was a vertical turntable there. I ending up getting both for $100 !!!!

Smilenice job congrats,u can't go wrong with the sk's my biggest pet peeve is on the sk's the tapes never work, great tuners though,in fact awesome tuners,! Laugh Out Loud u made the right choice! Smile

Yah the tape function seems to be a lil wacky and seems to work when it wants. The sound is nice though when I used my ipod through the aux.

Well I collect turntables too and I couldn't pass that one up.

Maybe I Should Glue the speakers to the side and strap a handle on the top.....lol

teamstress - 2009-07-18 15:39

Vertical record players have a cool visual impact.

jameswp67 - 2009-07-18 18:20

Wow! I have that same vertical turntable, but I love the speakers! They look...complex! Enjoy! Big Grin

newjackrichie - 2009-07-19 00:12

Yah I have seen the turntable by itself. This was the first time I have seen it with the stereo attached to it.

newjackrichie - 2009-07-22 21:20

I have this on ebay right now.... need the cash Frown
Pioneer

kballenger53 - 2009-07-23 13:04

Believe it or not, THAT'S THE PIONEER BOX I'M ALWAYS TALKIN' ABOUT!!! Big Grin I thought it was the SK-95, but the 71 is it!!!

I've had one of these and it's always been my Favorite Box!!! My only pet peeve with them is the fact that the handle is plastic and hollow because of the Condensor Mics!!

And because it's hollow and plastic, the handle can't really handle the weight of the Box, especially when it has batteries in it!!!

It's a sad thing to be walking down the street with it on one block, and have nothin' but the handle in your hand on the next!!! Eek That's what exactly happened to mine!!! Mad

But it's a great looking Box, with great features (very advanced for it's time), and looks good on the Wall Unit (word of advice)!!! But not really Street Worthy!!!

Take Good Care Of It!!

I'm confused. This is your auction for this item? The pictures show SK-95 printed on top and back. But you just said it says SK-71 on it ????

So I was right all along!!! You guys are going by what you can see. Ol' KB53 is going by memory!!! But it's indeed the very same box I remembered. If I'm not mistaken, the SK-71 is BROWN, has similiar features, but the SK-95 is more advanced with it's 7 Song Music Search!!!

I've had a SK-71 too, as a matter of fact, I've had one of those first, before I upgraded to the SK-95 when I was in the US Navy back in 1980!!!

I wish I could find a 95 in good condition!!!

Looks a cool box, would be nice to see one with the speaker cones visible and some chrome rings around the outside Cool

Yeah, unfortunately they didn't come with chrome rings around the outside of the speakers, or with chrome inside the speaker cone.

These were strictly Paper (for lack of a better word) Speakers!!! It still had a Great Sound as I reflect back on it. What set Pioneer apart from the rest of them was it's styling!!!

Pioneer was always considered a "Step Above The Rest" when it came to it's stereo systems. They were like the "Cadillac" of the Music World. Therefore, they incorporated the same standards into their BOXES, for a very Classy Look!!!

Very stylish, but not the most durable in the world. Frown But, they do look great on the Wall Unit!!! Cool
