saturday i hit gold!!!!

hey you guys
saturday was the best! Nod Yes i have been virtually given (£5 paid in total) for two stunning boxes Big Grin
first one: AIWA TPR990
in a grubby state after languishing in an old mans garage for many a year, and the old boy had died,it will need a lot of cleaning up.both aerials need replacing as they are missing their ends, there is a slight knock in one side of the unit (its not major), and ive got a feeling the tape deck will need work (not fully tested yet)but the radio still works without the aerials extended, the vu's all work and so do the lights it has.it also sounds awesome.its my first large boombox and despite its grubbiness, i LOVE IT!!!! Big Grin
second one:
a sony cf570s
this old boy is in a sorry state, this has more dirt, grime and muck on it than my aiwa.and it doesnt work (powers up but nothing from the speakers at all) the metal top flash is all bent and it will need full restoration.
but i think i will sit on that one for the minute and concentrate on the tpr990.
anyone with either of the same units here have any pearls of wisdom for me? and has any one any idea if the tpr 990 was aiwas biggest at the time?its actually a 990G-whats the g stand for? and finally gang, how much would the aiwa have retailed for in 1981?
thanks a million
andy v- sorry no pics as i dont have the equipment to do it Frown

Those TPR990's are sweet looking boxes, congrats. I've narrowly missed a couple on EBAY over the years.
I've heard that the tape is somewhat of a pig to fix, to put it mildly, assuming it doesn't work of course.

Still heck of a score though. Cool
