2nd and 3rd gen. of the 931 family

stbnyc - 2009-09-14 20:36

they look so much alike.. i would love to have the first generation 931, which is going to be hard to find! but i have a question.. if the first 931 was made in the 80s, the second 931 was made in the 90s and the third 931 was made in the 2000s, do you guys thhink that another 931 will be made in the 2010s?

if the ipod one sells well enough, and there is new, different technology in the 2010s for music storage...i could see it. maybe.

stbnyc - 2009-09-14 21:16

no one will ever know.. maybe the next 9311 will have bluetooth audio connectivity.. or built in wifi for internet radio stations

They look great together STBNYC! Hope to get an i931 eventually. Also there are at least 3 different 931's before those too!

There's original model with square case and the LED meter on the right hand side.

Then theres a model of this one with a single antenna (may not really count though).

Next is the model like your 931 but with the squared corners.

Then theres yours!

There are possibly even more variations from batch to batch, but these are the ones I know of. And, theres half a dozen (or more) variations of the i931 now too. Someone could quite conceivably JUST collect i931's, which would be quite awesome indeed.

Rock On.

They're are a whole bunch of versions of the 931. Search the threads for em'. I dont think we came up with a definitive list, because new ones pop up all the time, with little changes to them.
Here's mine, I have yet to see another one like this. It's a second gen from the 80's with auto reverse and the levels on the left, dual antenna and the red and yellow power button instead of yellow, purple and blue.

Peace,
Paul Z.

master.z - 2010-01-18 20:52

Yep, It's an 88' Schwinn Premis track bike that I converted to a fixed a while back.
Works well in the snow too. Big Grin

sinister - 2010-01-18 21:02

nice. mines almost done

master.z - 2010-01-18 21:18

What frame are you using? I bought all my conversion parts with the stock parts I sold on ebay, I made almost 9 times what the bike cost me! I only paid 40 for it.

I was surprised there was a pretty big market for original track bike parts.

Post a pic when it's done.

Sorry for the thread jack STB.

sinister - 2010-01-18 21:38

here it is when i got it. it was kinda run down. still dont know what frame it is.

i changed the cranks on it.it came with sugino gt but now has full campy from the late 70"s its getting painted right now but when its done it will be 1980 mongoose blue and white.

blah.blah.blah - 2010-01-19 12:58

Here's the 931 with the single antenna,no headphone jack in front. I got this POS from Sin Wink and now it is pretty minty and all working even the idiotic function and band switches!

drmz - 2010-01-19 15:02

I thought this thread is about boomboxes and racebikes now Confused

my trc-931 btw. 2 antennas and LED-meters on the left side.

stbnyc - 2010-01-19 18:12

there was a posting of pics of a bunch of retro feestyle bikes on here. it was like a bike show and if i can remember, there was a pic someone with a 767 or 777 (i think it was im not sure). i forgot who posted it but it was great. lol sorry drmz. back to the 931s now.

blah.blah.blah - 2010-01-19 20:28

well it was a boombox and a truck anyway Big Grin there's too much snow and my bike is buried deep in the rafters...
