The First "Advanced" BBX ?

Who introduced the first high tech boom box with features such as being PPL synthesized, full logic controls, etc. I recall Sony had an advanced unit in 1980-81. They had the Worlds first consumer radio which was synthesized - model # ICF-2001. Sony had a bbx with it's tape player on the upper left side that was very expensive, something like $450.,circa 1981. Model # ?

I would think JVC or Marantz would have had an advanced unit back then also.

To be honest with you Drew, Pioneer's SK-95 was VERY advanced for it's time back in 1980!!!

It had programable music search for the cassettes, auto-rewind, LED Sound Meters, with Separate Left and Right Recording Levers, built in Condenser Mics in the handle (which was it's downfall), and RCA input and outputs in the back of it!!!

I think about the SONY CFS-D7

Very nice model but the sound quality is not advanced and it`s got an analog tuner with digital LCD

djyetix - Your English is fine. Sometimes the phrasing is off a bit (words used), but this get's better with practice....keep reading and posting on the forum.

PS; this is why we all should use the English we were taught is school...no slang,it just degrades communication if we do.

I was kicked out of school, along with my Boom box in 1978, could hardly read or write, but kept reading and writing about vintage audio. Today Ive had 15 articles published in various radio publications.

I agree with Drew, Djyetix, you're english is fine!!! Smile

Sometimes I wonder if people can understand where I'm coming from!!! Eek

Although we may not articulate the language correctly, IT WAS NEVER REALLY OURS TO BEGIN WITH!!! Wink
