more than one dt690?

panabox - 2010-02-14 14:17

I've heard some say that the panasonic rx dt690 is rated at 90W. I;ve heard others say it was rated at 57W. Which one is true?

As I understand it, below are the ratings for the following Panasonic models:
RX-C100 50W
RX-dt670 52W
RX-dt680 57W
Rx-dt690 ?

I guess this is power consumption?

yea. I'm just courious if anyone has a dt690, what the power consumption (in watts) is as stated on the back of the unit. Does it say 57W, 90W, or something else? thanks!

hifitom, you have a dt690, right? What's the wattage rating stamped on the back of your unit?

panabox - 2010-02-16 07:46

any dt690 owners on here?

The DT-680 and DT-690 "consume" 57w of power. The RX-C100 (trying to remember as I have sold mine) consumed about 65 watts.

If you want to know more about this unit see review I did ages ago...

Oldskool... Hey man!!! Nice to hear from you again. How've you been? Thanks for that. I wonder where some people get the idea that this unit consumes 90 watts. Wierd, I guess.
By the way, very through review on the c100.

Doin' fine PB! Glad I could help and thanks for your comments on the review. I started to miss the 'ol RX-C100 when I linked it. But it's with another good home now. Big Grin

It's True!!!!!! Some dt690's do consume 90 watts! I just bought one an on the back of the unit it says 90W. I have the picture as a JPG file but I don't know how to post it. It keeps asking for a url.

So their must be some dt690's that consume 57watts and others that consume 90watts. That's interesting because the DT75 and the DT690 are the only Platinum Series that I'm aware of that have three way speakers. And if the dt75 sounds as good as it does consuming 57w I'm anxious to see how this particular dt690 compares consuming 90 watts. And yes, I know wattage consumption doesn't necessarily translate to power, but it's a start right?.

Thanks Davebush!

Can any one of the DT690 owners whose unit is rated at 57 Watts post a picture of the back panel showing it stamped on there? Thanks!

My dt690 should be here by next week. I'll let you guys know how it sounds and how I think it compares to my AMAZING sounding dt680. I'm so excited!!

I have two DT-690's, and they are both labeled as 90 watts on the rear.

Perhaps there is a non-US model that consumes less max power than this, but the US models should be all the same.

How do they sound compared to the kaboom and the dt680?

panabox - 2010-02-24 19:11

Okay,I just got my dt690. Bottom line: I'm not impressed at all. The dt680 hits deeper and blows out the sub bass with ease. By comparison, the dt690 dosen't even try to hit the lower frequincies, it just pretends as if those notes don't exist. Maybe some one on here can explain where the extra 33watts in power consumption is going towards. Anybody wanna buy a dt690? I kind of had my suspicions since the moment I realized the dt690 elimnates the 100hz on it's eq while having the S-XBS leveler, whereas the 680 has the 100hz AND the S-XBS leveler.

panabox - 2010-02-24 19:51

is it just me or are the woofers on the dt690 slightly smaller?

tobi - 2010-02-25 11:43

It doesn't matter if it is rated with 57 or 90 Watts or something else... it's all the same. Some countries rate it at the average other countries at maximum consumption. Inside it's the same electronic. There is no diference in case it's the same model.

Cheers...

yea i agree power consumption shouldnt be the only factor in buying a boombox.. it's how it's wired.. better electronics produce better sound.. i heard a JVC receiver rated at 100 watts next to a harmon kardon rated at 30 watts.. guess which one sounded better/louder/cleaner.. the HK.. beefier capacitors.. better output transistors.. and so on.. so power consumption means nothing in determining overall sound.. you just proved that with your Pannys Panabox.. i bet my DT-670 would give your DT-680 a good run.. and having owned all 3 670/680/690 i like the 670 the best sound wise.. it's ugly as all heck.. but beauty is in the eye of the beholder Smile
