Just wondering if anyone has a pic. of this boombox. There is one for sale local, but I'm unsure of what exactly it is.

This is the only pic I could find of the JVC PC-V55. Hope this helps.

These 'Hyper Bass sound' JVC's sound pretty darn nice. I have one a notch above with digital tuner. At first I thought it was ugly, but the Darth Vadar look is growing on me.

Much better then an egg. He only wants $5 for it, maybe I can talk him down (just Kidding).

I had one of the later RC-X510 'hyper bass sound' units, and it had really good bass, I mean REALLY good.

hey ive just got a jvc rc w410 from the pc v55 same year (1990) and if its anything as good as mine id say snap his hand off for the price

This model does not have the same quality of Hyper Bass as the better models. It's a steal for $5 though. Decent bass, light weight, and you don't have to worry about a cd player skipping when you move it. A better option for a tape only unit would be the PC-V88, it's built like the PC-X100/200/500 models in terms of the quality of Hyper Bass you get out of it.

The V55 was also made in the late 80's. A 1990 model would have been about the last year of production.

Thanks for the input guys, its much appreciated, I will try and get ahold of the owner, for $5 I cant go wrong.

FWIW, I bought one of these new in '89. I left it at a bar that I worked at that summer, dropped by in the spring of 2009 to visit (same owners) and the radio was *still* being used. It held up pretty well.
