JVC PC-5 - a good sounding unit?

hifitom - 2010-02-22 07:23

Hello

Same story like I already wrote about the Aiwa CP-20. I bought one (because I think it's a beauty!) but it will take a week till I could do the first soundcheck.

So what about this unit? How is the sound???

Thanks for any infos
Best wishes

hi tom,if the pc5 has its origonal speakers with no foam rott,i can guarentee that it will sound better than the aiwa, the pc5 is only small but dont let it fool you,the sound is excellent, and even though the speakers are only 4",the bass they give off is amaizing..the unit is also solid and very heavy..

here is the link to one of mine tom,i have 3 and i love them alot..

i refoamed the speakers on them myself,if the speakers have foam rott, its well worth having them repaired..in my opinion, the origional speaker are the best ones for it,i have had pc5's in the past with different speakers fitted, they did'nt seem to sound as good..

put up a pic when you get it,and let us know what you think of it..

Thanks for this link

but as I know the speakers on my coming unit are in good working order, and it's complete. The door next to the tape (mostly missing) is also ok ...

I got a pair JVC speakers of a other old PC-unit, just a one-way system, but the speaker looks like the bass on the PC-5. Gone put a picture in tomorrow - mybe you know what PC-unit the speakers came from & if they would fit (if they where broken) ...

Thanks and best wishes

Hey fitom, quick question: How many watts does your Panasonic dt690 say it consumes? It should be on the back somewhere. Thanks!

Hello

I exchange my DT690 some time ago, so I couldn't answer you this question - sorry!

Actually Tom, come to think of it; you are right. I now remember playing my sisters disco on a good home system and getting a full range of sound. Also many of my parents had Reggae sound systems from the 60s and 70s and they used to rattle a few windows I can tell you!
