tecsonic j1 rip off maybe? very obscure brand name Nod Yes
click on the link above and check out the oddity on ebay at the mo that looks like a tecsonic j1 rip off Wink

That's not a J-1 copy. Wink Those boxes do come under multiple brand names/a.k.a.'s, but they're all basically made by the same company. There is a version of that box under the Tecsonic name tho called a Tecsonic MX-900. Nod Yes

Another example is the Conion C100-F... In Canada, it goes by the Clairtone name. Elsewhere, it's a Helix. Nod Yes

ah rite, got you mono.
never understood why they brandname boxes different names in different countries Confused like philips uk, magnavox u.s.a. Wink

billy.the.binman - 2010-04-19 15:05

its just oem manufacture/ a company makes a product then another company will buy X amount to distributed in their own country with their brand name slapped on the front with some selective changes perhaps.

you get it with own brand products in tesco and the respective named brand, alot of the time it comes from the same factory.

or vw/seat/skoda etc

jvc.floyd - 2010-04-19 15:53

oh the j1 makes that one look like a mid sized box .

monolithic - 2010-04-19 21:17

I Agree Yeah, look at the boxes that were in "Do The Right Thing" ... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v...FCSE&feature=related

The Trident is basically the older version of the Palladium/Tecsonic MX-900 and roughly the same size... The Promax/Tecsonic J-1 Super Jumbo is much bigger! Nod Yes

viennasound - 2010-04-19 23:28

I have 2 of them.
Both are labeled as STARLINE

btw: i remember the PALLADIUM label was used as own brand from the QUELLE warehouse...
And it´s less quality.

lav.loo - 2010-04-20 00:34

thanks a lot all you guys for going to the trouble of answering my question.
not only with great pics, but great info too, cheers Wink

viennasound - 2010-04-20 00:51

And must correct a little mistake:
PALLADIUM was a brand from NECKERMANN, not QUELLE! Nod Yes

I have the gold and burgundy pictured Trident CX-473F (25w) also.I also have the Tecsonic MX-900(at 30w) version of the Palladium on Ebay (which of course differs from the bigger Tecsonic J1).To me the MX-900 (also Palladium) sounds much more powerful than the Trident. It is also a bigger box with different driver despite their similar layout. The Trident is more reserved (if you can call it that) by comparison.

The 900 is very loud and a pretty harsh sounding box.It is very much a "blaster".If you back the midrange slider all the way down on the 900,it still doesn't get rid of this harshness. This is a sound I actually like at times depending on my mood. Also,it has an exciting sound due partly to its abundant highs. There is a wonderful "slap" to percussion that's very addictive when you hear it.The bass is really good but not "weighty" on balance because its mids and highs have so much presence!

Just my opinions of course.I really love my version of the Ebay box.It has a fierce sound and looks killer in black!Unfortunately, mine got busted up in transit due to poor packing. If this was a U.S. auction,I would certainly go for it!

Interesting!
I thought the TRIDENT is much better.
It looks more solid made.
