not sure what to make of this post kid
![Confused](http://community.groupee.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif)
but that sony certainly does,nt do anything for nostalgia
![No No](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/nono.gif)
but still interesting read
![Wink](http://community.groupee.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)
Did anybody read the description by the tech author?
Although it looks like a nice high end unit,
A show of hands, who would carry that on their shoulder?
Why does the writer think this is a ghettoblaster. What the hell does he mean by "fit in". Like it's a sin to listen to tapes?
You know what. I bet dude has never seen a real blaster in his sad life.
It all makes sense!
Keep listening to your music through your cell phone speaker jack a$$!LOL.
That's a house box, plain and simple,... and the only time it should be "carried" anywhere is to move it from room to room.

Amen to that!
![I Agree](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/iagree.gif)
ye well said guys that about sums it up
![Nod Yes](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/yesnod.gif)
although to be honest MONO i would,nt even have it in my house, it would be a sin to look at it and a waste of electric powering it up, having said that after looking at it the weedy thing would probably power up on a pencil battery
![Laugh Out Loud](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/smilielol5.gif)
thats definately a 2010 boombox.
![I Agree](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/iagree.gif)
house box for the kitchen
It's like Bruce Lee's cousin, Ug Lee.
Maybe the last, but one of the ugliest..

I don't know....you take a chance of being pelted with stones if you walk down the street with that one !
I personally like the high end Sony's from 1973-83.....CF-580, CFS-F5, etc.
I know a lot of BBX collectors don't like Sony's, but their early units had some great quality - one of the few BBX manufactures to make their own transistors and the only company to have a cassette recorder chosen to go into space on an Apollo mission...now thats cool!
neat box mono looks good with speaker covers off.
i have to disagree on it being the best sony ever made though, personally i prefer the cfs 99 with all the colours

Oh i don't know, i think it has something about it, a certain charm.
![Roll Eyes](http://community.groupee.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif)
NO!! I'm winding you all up, even i wouldn't be seen dead with it
![Laugh Out Loud](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/smilielol5.gif)
or would i

I didn't say it was the best, I said it was the classiest.
![Cool](http://community.groupee.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif)
Wish it's sound was as good as its looks tho...
sorry MONO my mistake
![Nod Yes](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/yesnod.gif)
misread your post.
ye now i do agree probably is the classiest looking sony
![Nod Yes](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/yesnod.gif)
they do sound c**p thow most sony,s, also i think sony never was a real street machine, i think they was more of a home radio
![Wink](http://community.groupee.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)

That box in particular IS NOT for the streets. A week or so outside and the woodgrain will be in bad shape and the grille cloth torn or full of holes.
It's a nice high end house box tho. The cassette door mechanism makes a sound I've never heard on any other boombox... When you hit the eject button or push the door in, it sounds like it's motor driven.
![Cool](http://community.groupee.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif)
iv,e never heard of that either MONO
![No No](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/nono.gif)
sounds a pretty cool feature thow.
and ye i agree about the street thing on that particular box
![Nod Yes](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/yesnod.gif)
it reminds me of a panasonic model with the woodgrain panels, i think the model is an RX7000, or 7200 defo made for in house and would look great in a study room or something

apart from monolithic's nice sony, i really love the d-7 this one has digital tunner that you handle with the regular knob, i think this is a really cool feature
yes that,s also a cool feature dt
![Nod Yes](http://www.kittmaster.com/emo/yesnod.gif)
very unusual to have a digital tuner with a regular knob, never seen or heard of that one before, nice

Sony had some cool and innovative features... I like the hidden cassette function buttons.

I'm one of those pre 1978 BBX collectors, always looking for early stuff. I still think Sony had one of the first intigrated portables which came to be known as the Boombox - the CF-550 of 1971. The post 1978 models had many more features and bigger sound, but materials and construction was so nice on early Sony's.
Big fan of the CF-580 My article -www.antiqueradio.com/Dec09_Hayden_SonyCF580.html
