Crown CSC-945L

So, my Sharp it's on repair from 'bout 1 month. I've tried to change the belts but the attempt failed miserably as I'm not familiar yet with these tasks (I know you'll be all laughing reading this Red Face Leaving ). Since I'm tired of not having my 'box, I think it's time to get my 2nd one, something cheap but that I'll be anyhow happy to have Big Grin ! I've found a Crown CSC-945L that, shipping included, would cost me 40 euros, fully working and in good cosmetic condition. It's rated at 26w, it's beefy and looks the part, would look like a bargain, aside from the fact that I don't know absolutely anything about it! I know Crown built some very good looking radios, but the bad reviews on the famous (and gorgeous) SZ-5100 left me a little confused 'bout this (unknown here in Italy) brand. Do you something know about this csc-945L Confused ?

the crown sz5100 build quality is considerably different. it really is like comparing a mcdonalds burger and a bit of steak.

MY 777 ?? I'd really like something like that, but I'm too poor right now Frown ! I was talkin 'bout my more modest 9494. No problems however, I've found this old gentleman who runs an electonic/repair shop. He repairs old radios (talkin even of '20s-'30s stuff) in the spare time, he surely knows how to put hands in it.However he told me from the start that I can't put rush on him, so let's wait Tap Toes ...

Hi all,
The crown CSC-945-L is( i thinks ) a very nice BBx, the only things against her:
Got not real Line-in!
Only a D-IN With not Aux-function!!!
So for listen a Aux we need to put a tape and rec on!
but the sound is very nice, look is cool!
Look here: this is mine....

Thanks Tiko...looks cool indeed, if you tell me that the sound it's very nice, i'm very happy for my deal Smile ! A little more than a week and it'll be in my hands ! Strange story for the aux anyway...

It's arrived! I'm really glad, however, the seller who sold it to me as "fully workin', just some fake contacts sometimes with the switches" didn't told me all the truth: the static/fake contacts problem it's really, really bad, it hasn't solved with contact spray and makes almost impossible to listen to the radio, i tought "ok, at least the cassette deck it's good..."... Mad...also not true as it doesn't record and after some time i realized that with some tapes the playing speed it's quite slow, like when you pitch down a record...those problems sore my day Mad ! Anyway, I have to say that cosmetic conditions it's almost mint and i like its look a lot better in the real life than in the pictures! It's a lot lighter than the Gf-9494 and I have to say that the thing I like most it's the sound, warm and beautiful with good bass, definitely a lot better than I expected! Plus, I've heard that it's a rare bird and this makes me quite proud to own it, at 66 euros shipping included I think ain't so bad. The bad thing (which really piss me off!) it's that when the Sharp will be serviced, I'll have to send to repair this one !!!
