my dt680 hits pretty low, and clean too. Is there a box out there that hits lower? Just curious.

Any of the early 52 watt kaboom series has the deepest, hardest hitting bass of any boombox I have ever heard...and I have heard most of the heavy hitters out there. It's looks are not for everyone but there is no denying how hard the bass hits.

the panasonic 980 is the best ive heard portable so far plus the rotel rpm 10 both 3 peice boxes

Dt680 is the best forget the kaboom it dosent have much clarity imho

JVC PC-5 is a contender here. Wooden ported encosures

panasonic rx ct900, this is a late 80,s 3 piece box and the bass is unforgiving on it

one of our old members had measured the bass output on his flat-woofer pioneer ck series -

it was MUCH lower than any of the boxes mentioned here so far

I've always like Pioneer's products. I've got to hear their ck series. You've got me curious now.

My Pioneer boxes are characterised by their nice deep bass sound, in part due to the very free moving gel edged speaker cones. The freq response is listed (SK-353) as down to 50hz and I'd say that there's a fair amount of output in that region, judging by critical ear and also from low freq test tones via line-in.

does the bass on the ct900 sound as good as the dt680's?

sorry PANABOX, ive never heard the dt680, but i can,t imagine many boxes with more bass than the ct900 panasonic really are streets ahead on sound than most brands

yeah -- i also would drop in the CK-series, as well as the telefunken hifi studio 1.

kaboom is a heavy hitter indeed

i have heard good things about the telefunken and kaboom but never had the pleasure of hearing any of them

Well, it doesn't get too loud, but when the DSL is activated on the Aiwa CS-880... Oh, man! Pure heaven. I miss mine.

The Sharp GX-300H thumps pretty deep, so does the Sharp WF-939z...

My vote would also be the Kaboom.

Sure, it's possible that some other boomer will produce some reasonably audible bass at lower frequencies, however I have yet to hear a boomer come close to matching the sheer quantity of what is percieved to be "proper" bass that a Kaboom produces.
It might not be accurate sound reproduction, but is that really what boomers are about?

What is the difference between rv-nb1 (43Watt) and bigger 52watt models? Is it the usa-europe thing or are 52watt models really more powerfull?

I've got manuals (PDF) for lots of Kabooms & the power output is always quoted as the same for all the "full-size" Kabooms (that is, the ones with 2 6½" woofers at eaither end).
The only one that's different is the (slightly bigger) RV-DP100/200 - the one with the drum-pads, scratch wheel, etc. The power output for that one is quoted as a watt or 2 more.

Are the latest iPod Kabooms less powerful, then?

At low volume there is no other than the Telefunken M1 - superb sub-bass ...

At high levels I think the Kaboom is the champion ...

...never heard a Telefunken M1, but I can believe that it'll kick low bass, what with it essentially being a hifi system with a handle.

1) Quit spamming us. I'm pretty sure all of us check Ebay every week.

2) What does "tape player doesn't work" mean? You'd have better luck in your auctions if you were more descriptive. Like, does the motor not work, or does it work but the belts are simply slipping? Some basic investigation and reporting on your part might help you get a higher price.

3) You're trying to tell me you don't have a AAA battery to see if the clock works?

4) Ever consider that taking more than one photograph might help you get better results? Seriously, I don't understand people like you. Is using a camera really that hard?

5) How is Garden City, Michigan "Snow Country"? Give me a break, I grew up in that corner of Michigan, and you don't get ANY snow compared to the REAL snow country (Utah & Colorado). The only skiing you have in your area is on 300 foot high garbage dumps converted to ski hills. What a joke.
