chaps
looking on my new one it looks like theres a burglar alarm on it-can any of you guys tell me if this is true-and if so, how does it work-theres a little panel above the decks that mentions something about security-also-anyone got a manual for one of these-and a 9696....m70...please

there's a "Sensor"-Button right under the Power-Button. Push it and wait some time (without movement in front of the boxes or moving the box). i do not know the exact time of non-moving the box or in front of it but after a while the alarm is set. if you move the box or move in front of the box (in front of the security-system/sensor) the haul begins.

this is, in fact, the version to set the alarm on the J-1. There is an aka without a sensor-button beneath the power-button - this one got a digital clock instead i think.

be prepared for a loud and nasty burglar-alarm!

how do you turn it off of it goes off then-wow-ive got a box with an alarm on-wow Wink

you turn it off by hitting the "sensor"-button once again Wink

Intersound got that feature on quite a few boxes, as well as conion did.

nice but annyoing feature these days when you hit the sensor-button accidently and the alarm starts once you move in front of the box again Big Grin

nearly got a heart attack last time that happened Big Grin

That's a cool feature from the 80's for sure, but how do you turn off the alarm without setting off? Or do you have to set it off every time you want to turn it off?

using the button is the only way to stop the alarm (except from taking the power from th unit in any way) --

So, lets say I have set the alarm....I then want to go get my radio and take it with me, BUT my mom is sleeping....the only way to get my radio out the door is by setting off the alarm by walking up to it, setting off the alarm and pushing the button! Mom's gonna love that!

Wow, the 1980's were a strange and dangers place! So dangerous that people felt this was the ONLY way to protect their personal belongings! Probably worked great in Brooklyn!
