The Most Whistles And Bells!!

lav.loo - 2010-07-12 11:16

Howdy all, yesterday i was doing some mix tapes on my philips d8614, i record on this box because the recordings are excellent, especially using BASF chrome tapes.
anyway i got to thinking about all the whistles and bells some boxes have on them, the philips has a good few but i don,t really use them.
i have boxes with things like mic mixing, and fader controls e.t.c.
some boxes have some great features on but i don,t really go past using stuff like manual record level and other basic features.
it would be nice to know if any other members use any of the extras on there boxes and also what your most feature packed boxes are or box is, also does anyone still make their own mix tapes Wink

driptip - 2010-07-12 12:02

Hey lav, i always try to do my recordings as simple as possible.

- 2010-07-12 12:09

Monolithic, what is that box in your avatar? Does it really have green lights for the VU's? And what is the square in the upper left corner of it? Signal strength?

monolithic - 2010-07-18 17:57

It's a Toshiba BomBeat RT-S90.

The green square is just a decorative light for the adres system.

reli - 2010-07-18 18:32

It's 13 7/8" H x 23 5/8" L x a little over 6" D which is about the same height as an M90 but a few inches shorter lengthwise.

I honestly don't know, but probably has/had to do with Japanese TV channels that broadcast on radio.

EDIT: Just did a little research... Turns out that if you had an FM wireless microphone, that would be the FM range (78MHz) you'd tune to in order to be heard thru the speakers. That range was probably only good for Japan tho but could probably be used here as well.

Well, how big/tall is Litfan? Also, you have to consider the angle & distance from the camera.

lav.loo - 2010-07-19 18:12

well RELI,MONO has posted up that it,s just short of the m90 in length, but as tall, so it,s still way bigger than i thought Nod Yes Wink

OK, that makes sense, like the old "Mr. Microphone"...."Hey Baby, we'll be back to pick up you later!". Man, chicks must have been really easy in the 70's!

That's cool though, they put a tuning spot on the dial for you!
