Complete list of "holy grails"

samsnite - 2010-08-07 05:40

So... which radios are considered holy? Is it a giant? Or is it rare? Perhaps it is brilliant sounding?

monolithic - 2010-08-07 06:04

Here we go with this again... Roll Eyes

The last thing in the world we need posted is a list of "holy grails" for some chump to see and start thinking that his box is worth a fortune because it's on it. No No

Somebody, lock or delete this thread! Smile

samsnite - 2010-08-07 06:28

Whats up with this negativity, chump? Im really sorry if i hit your sore nerve... just trying to make conversation.

As an old saying goes " Talking is silver, shutting up is gold. "

And by the way, im not in it for the money...

samsnite - 2010-08-07 06:32

But if yall dont want conversation, i will shut up. (Man it makes me sad...)

litfan - 2010-08-07 07:07

I think, everyone, has their own personal grail. I can`t remember what mine was. Oh, never managed to get a sanyo 824.

im.out.of.hear - 2010-08-07 07:13

well my all time grail,as you all will know by now is the GF999,and now i have one and i'm smilin from ear >>Big Grin<< to ear
My other Grails are GF757,GF858 and Rs-5 but shipping from japan is the only thing stopping me from buying them

monolithic - 2010-08-07 07:19

1st, I think you should re-read what I said 'cause nobody called YOU a chump. Wink

2nd, nobody said YOU were "in it for the money". Wink

Let me state this as simple as possible so there won't be any doubt: a "holy grail" list may be good for "conversation" but it's VERY BAD for business. Again, the last thing we need is some chump - who doesn't even collect boxes - to come here, see that list and think his 777 is worth $1000 because his box is considered a "holy grail" on stereo2go. No No

Don't worry... You're not the 1st person to request a "holy grails" list... From what I can tell, those threads aren't around anymore. Wink

saxonman - 2010-08-07 08:01

My grail is my GF767 but i think a grail of such, is only a grail if you think it is!! buyng a Sharp GF767 in perfect condition has taken me ages,so was as far off as the true grails ie bigbed and such like!I would never spend hundreds on a box so paying £200 was a real killer but i just needed MY grail which is the GF767.

I actually agree with Mono. There are those who will only look to take advantage of a list like that. Most true collectors have their own idea of what a grail is...and I think if you are gonna call my man Mono a chump you may wanna do it to his face and not in a thread such as this...just my opinion... Smile

docs - 2010-08-07 09:49

There are no such things in my opinion and it was this kind of thing that put many of the so called grails and their owners in cuckoo land over their value. I'm not being negative just factual with the sad affair of some that use this kind of information to make money.

lav.loo - 2010-08-07 10:26

i would say SAMSNITE i can see you was only making a conversation and there,s no harm in that No No but on the other hand i can see MONO,S point too Nod Yes did,nt VANILLA ICE use the word chump a lot Laugh Out Loud
anyway as most people would probably agree, a grail is the box that you really love, it,s all about personal choice in my opinion Nod Yes it could be a 9191/an m90/a c100f or any box for that matter.....whatever floats your boat Big Grin Wink
oh there,s one more thing, what idiot came up with the name HOLYGRAIL?? it,s a religious meaning and should be kept that way, regardless of your beliefs Nod Yes

driptip - 2010-08-07 10:54

power hungry? sad sad sad!! hehehe

by the way Samsnite, no comment.

kenpat - 2010-08-07 11:03

Chill... Cool

davebush - 2010-08-07 11:09

wasnt the holy grail a small golden cup in raiders of the lost ark........i dont think it has ever been a radio cassette with multiple speakers......anyway saying that my grail is something that i cant find and want badly......usually a winning lottery ticket haha

Thanks, Melly, but I don't take what he said personal - it's no big deal. Cool

However, I like the way this thread is going 'cause instead of people chiming in with what they think are "holy grails", they're coming up with personal "grails", and everybody has those. Nod Yes Also, no one can really profit from those opinions.

Word to your mother! Big Grin

But seriously, the word fit at that moment. But then, you could use a bunch of words to describe non collecting opportunistic fortune hunters - none of 'em good. Big Grin

Some of which pass themselves off as collectors. It's hard enough as it is to find boxes without needing to sift through collectors for true people who are in it for the boxes and not solely for £$£$£$.

Personally, they don't get much better than a vz2k, true to the era, vinyl all the way baby.

That's a good point 'cause you do have some people (even here) who are strictly box sellers. Nod Yes

I'm with ya Mono, every day mate.

bendycat - 2010-08-07 17:03

Grails can be found on ebay - any body wants to know what is selling or what sells for a good price, can just look there

as for talking about them - well it's what the site is about, if we can't talk about what we feel like just cos some one might find out that a certain box is worth a lot ?

i ain't starting with mono for what he said - but fear for some one finding out top info is horse s*&t Nod Yes

most know the big 10 and all can be found talked about in many threads on here

it happened with old scholl bmx's - peeps found out that some are worth money - and there's not that many around to be had cheap - it's just the way things go - you can't stop peeps find out where the cash is !

as for grails - most would like one or all of the big 10 - but some like looks - sound - quality - make - and as such

this ain't no ***** about a thread - just some one's different veiw - we all have one and it ok to here alls veiws

chillin B Wink

samsnite - 2010-08-08 09:09

Ok ok... I totally misunderstood what you were saying, Mono. Sorry for that one! Frown I really thought you meant me. Really. So i will de-chump you and take back what i said earlier, ok?

I agree the topic name went a little wrong, i was meaning more like list of personal "grails" (?)... (sounds a bit stupid now). My personal grail would be the 9191, because i had one as a kid until my mate destroyed it... *still crying*. Memories make a great deal in this too.

But i have to disagree this thread would give any major info to the chumps out there...
