Do you still use your radio's on a daily basis??

richard.heijnen - 2010-09-13 09:55

here's my little collection:

Many of them are pensioners now, they live a quit life in my attic.
But some i still use, almost daily.
There's the big Panasonic with the b/w tv, i use it in the living room next to the "normal" tv, to keep an eye on other channels. the Philips D8614 i use in the attic when i'm doing stuff there, reception and sound quality are great. The philips ART60 (one of the 2 radio/tv sets on top of each other) i use in the sleepingroom, the crusader world band receiver (the right one of the 3 on top) i use when i'm sitting in the garden. The Toshiba T3200 "laptop" is still in mint condition, but with only DOS 3.0 it just wont load Stereo2go.com... weird, isn't it?

docs - 2010-09-13 10:28

Absolutely! I rotate mine around on a weekly basis to keep them booming.

lav.loo - 2010-09-13 11:02

apart from a hitachi 8200 which is my kitchen box, my others are all boxed and bubble wrapped after a recent move Big Grin
until i know wether or not im gonna settle where i live they will stay put, this way they will stay dust free.
but... on another note when i do have them out on display, i give them a rumble every couple of weeks, just to keep them ticking over Wink

retro - 2010-09-13 11:56

The last time I used one of my boxes, a belt snapped and I haven't bothered with them since. Mad

lav.loo - 2010-09-13 12:46

oooh nasty RETRO Nod Yes Wink

teamstress - 2010-09-13 16:37

Sure do! Listening to my Sanyo MX-720 as I type this. I try to rotate the ones I have around so they all get juiced from time to time, keeps 'em happy.

mellymelsr - 2010-09-13 16:53

I listen to at least one of my boomboxes every day. I have 17 that are plugged in at all times in my "Man-cave". So I generally play several a day because it only takes a few seconds to attach my mp3. My high end home stereo has been virtually ignored for the last 6 months. I love my boxes and they will continue to get lots of play from my music.

lasonic.trc920 - 2010-09-14 11:08

Same here, I use at least one radio a day, Cranking the newly acquired Lasonic TRC-935.

I have to say, your collection of TV Blasters is AWESOME! very nice collection indeed!

blinddarm - 2010-09-14 11:36

@richard heijnen

nice collection Smile
what kind of Laptop do you have ?
a 80286 or 80386 ?....good old Dos Machines Big Grin

i am using my old Mono Box in my Bedroom
while reading a book or doing laundry or somthing else... Big Grin Cool

richard.heijnen - 2010-09-14 11:53

The toshiba in the picture is an Intel 80286 - 12 MHz, with a High resolution EGA compatible gas plasma display and MS-DOS 3.2 with a Windows version 1.1 option. I dont have windows on it. unfortunatly.. Its from 1987, and at the time quit popular -and very expencive!

@lasonic: Yeah i really like the tv blasters.. they're all b/w, but i know there are some colour ones around (sony) and i hope to get some of them as well.

bredgeo - 2010-09-14 22:39

I rotate as well..... on a daily/weekly basis.

isolator42 - 2010-09-15 01:16

Yup, they're all over the damn place Smile
Let's see:
Panasonic RX-DT610 in kitchen.
B&O Beosystem10 in dining room.
Sony ZX-7 in lounge (used as tuner & tape player for main stereo system).
Sansui FX700R in bathroom.
Sharp WQ-T238 in our bedroom providing 24/7 background sounds.
Sharp QTV5E our bedroom DVD player.
Lasonic i931 in my son's bedroom.
2 other eggs in the girls room.
JVC RV-DP200 for garden, BBQ, etc. use.

...is ten enough? Smile

richard heijnen, I see the little silver 3pc top centre of your pile is an aka for my brother's first stereo boomer, the Bush 7070. A pretty underwhelming boomer to be fair, but back then, we loved it!

Nice collection of gear richard heijnen. Cool

Yes I use radio every day and I don’t have a telly, in fact I have not had a telly in over ten years.

I have a tuner as part of my main system.

I have been happy lately with the government report, saying that analogue signal will not be switched off until digital sets out number analogue sets. So guys stick to your analogue sets.

This is good news for analogue lovers, we are being forced to settle for something that is substandard. Don’t know what the rest of you guys think? Digital radio is so bad and fatiguing, I can only take about 10 minutes at a time.
