Thank You Geoff,i have one comming but i have never actually seen one in the flesh, never had the chance to look inside one..glad the cassette deck is repair friendly,i'm hoping the outer bass are 4" because i may just have a spare set of foams which i got from usa last year,as for the passive radiator,i think i can message a good seller on the bay that may just sell me one,i'm hoping i can fix it up and look forward to bringing it back to life..i'm excited but nervous..

Boomboxes with passive radiator systems require woofers with high xmax specs (deep excusions) for maximum effectiveness of the passive radiator. That requires a very flexible surround that is not possible with the treated paper and cloth surrounds typical of most boombox speakers. Back then, rubber was not commonplace so foam surrounds are typical in PR systems.

In answer to your questions, the deck is fairly friendly to rebelting but rather fragile, in my opinion. The outer speakers do indeed suffer from foam rot. And they are 5-1/4".

ahhh ..thank you norm..i was actually thinking of replacing them with rubber surrounds,i replaced the surrounds on my Jvc Pc5 with rubber,i have always wondered why all boxes had the foam surrounds, you are probebly right, rubber was probebly in the early stages,or maybe it was cheaper to just use foam..i just want to get my mitts on it and see how nice i can make it..my main concern is the cosmetic condition, from the pictures i've seen of it,looks like its going to require some cosmetic work too,i dont think i'm going to be able to get it mind but i will have a very good try..its worth it..

Paul lad. Sorry, but, not one of my faves. I had 2. Jeff (can`t remember his board name), replaced some foams for em. One, i did the radiator`s myself. What a pain. Good luck mate.
