redbenjoe - 2010-09-13 20:19

way to go , reli Cool

its just as much about box people as about boxes-
lots of new york city stories from 30 years ago.

ao - 2010-09-13 22:37

Do we know any more about the book, according to the website it has 17 photos of boomboxes, surely there's more tp it than that. Is it one of those 'boombox culture' book with the usual array of album covers & BITD pics with breakdancers etc?

blaster - 2010-09-13 23:25

isn't this the guy in this video below that was suppose to write a book like that ?
in the beginning you can see similar graphics like the cover of that book?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e84hf5aUmNA

redbenjoe - 2010-09-14 00:47

yup blaster --thats the guy Smile

and cris--that number 17 is bogus !! Confused
there are HUNDREDs of good box photos
and era shots

plus an essay from an australian s2g member Big Grin

ao - 2010-09-14 01:28

Checked the above video & I like this guy, his favourite box is the GF-9696, that cuts it in my books.

I'm going to buy this.

walkgirl - 2010-09-14 04:20

docs - 2010-09-14 04:24

redbenjoe - 2010-09-14 10:14

global views

Of course, but an M9998 isn't what I'd call a street box.....It's too heavy, too expensive, and it's got those feet sticking out. It's a shelf/studio type of unit.

kennedy - 2010-09-27 02:26

Just ordered mine, looking forward to the read and the eye candy . . . thanks for drawing my attention to that one folks.

kennedy - 2010-10-06 01:46

RECEIVED . . .

Love this book man, and was stoked to see a double page picture of my first and most loved boombox - the Philips D8714.

Love the general gritty feel of the whole book, including the isolated boombox photographs which are not all shiny perfect boxes but rather units that might have witnessed some of the street culture which the book focuses on . . .

Read some more tonight Wink
