just because... :)

isolator42 - 2010-11-06 05:37

Dusted off the Sony ZX-7, fiddled with the tuner & then popped in a Genesis tape to check it's all still working OK.

Still listening now, just because it sounds so good for such a tiny boomer Smile
My 3 year old son stared through the tape window for a little while, fascinated by the moving tape spools.
My 12 year old son was astonished by how expensive it would've been back in the 80s.

It serves as the tape deck & analog tuner in my home hifi system... & I love it!

ye very nice mini I42, not a big fan of mini's myself but that is a real nice little looker, never seen that one before either, it must be quality if you have it hooked up for tape deck and tuner requirements Wink Bopping

I'd love one of those. Saisho made one about that size but I know it was nowhere near the quality.

Hi Isolater! Did you get that ZX7 from Macdude on here yrs ago? If so...that was mine before Macdude got it. I sold it or traded it (can't remember) a few yrs ago to Macdude. It is a nice unit. I am not a Sony fan but that thing was heavy for its size!

The ZX-7 is one of my all time favorite minis, I wouldn't mind using one as a desktop radio. I came across this brochure in the stash Wink

Some of those minis are very amazing very good built and sound quality. And also it-s the proof that it can be done, it has been done 20 years ago, but somehow the technology our days cannot do it anymore.

It's just peeking into the left of the pic. It is an unusually lage AC block.

The deck is disc-drive (like their most expensive Walkmen), with Dolby, music search & full auto-stop. Quality. The boomer has a 3.5mm line-out jack, making connection nice & easy.

Nope, not me. I got mine via eBay seller "gaarden-walker" from Kiel, Germany for just 22½ Euros plus shipping back in 2007.

They can do it (& probably even better if the mood took 'em), but they don't want to.
I think price is king these days, in what is now a conservative marketplace...

Bloody hell, it's playing the tape too fast now.
I'll post in the Tech section.
