Here comes the BOOM!!! 8-tracks!

mister.x - 2011-02-01 13:47

I recently picked this beauty up, my first 8-track box. This guy is a beast, Panasonic Model RF-7400 is also a stereo recorder meaning I can record through the dual 1/4" jacks onto my blank 8-tracks. The tuning meter has a speedometer look and I can tell you this thing is fast really fast.

Confused

What is that avatar about!

mister.x - 2011-02-01 14:43

The avatar is the historic space meeting between the USSR and US where a walkman was given as a gift of peace to the people of the USSR!

That's an early unit, like 1973-76. Panasonic had that speedo guage thing going in the early 70s - I've had a quad receiver and a phono/radio with those round dials...very retro and when lit up they're pretty cool looking. They didn't skimp on materials on those early bbx's....a contender as one of the earliest box's - built like a tank. Enjoy it

From the pic , looks very well made unit, and not bad looking either, very 70's,
thanks for sharing.

Big GrinVery nice Mister X, I wouldn't mind having one of those.

I've only seen one or two other 8-track boxes and this is by far the best quality. It's very heavy without the batteries, it must weigh a ton with them. It's interesting it's so old, I would have thought an 8-track hold-over from the late 70's

A Walkman made in Japan? An American product would have been a more logical gift.
