Help! Long lost Emerson

dkd - 2008-04-29 06:46

Does anyone have a picture of the Emerson CTR-966 mentioned in this *thread*? It sounds like one of the boxes that I had back in the day that I regretfully let go of.

Thanks for the pic! Although details are hazy now this one seems close to the one I had but mine was black and I distinctly remember that it had red tweeters. Is this the same or perhaps an eariler model?

Yesssssssssssssss!!! Big Grin That's it! I forgot what a good looking box it was. When I bought it (1983-1984ish) I was in the 8th or 9th grade and didn't have much money so I didn't really collect boomboxes. I had one for a while and then I would sell it or trade it for the next big thing. I also had a cool panasonic with built in turntable that was traded on as well. Thanks for the memories *TPR* Smile

Maybe the SG-J800:

Or the SG-J500:

Hmm.. nope those arent it. I'm pretty sure it was a panasonic. Did JVC make anything similar? It was around the same time period (1984-1985ish) The config of the top one is about right though.

That's it! The JCV DC33L-- Thanks skippy. Big Grin I bow to the collective knowledge that is the stereo2go fraternity. See how much cooler my collection would have been if I'd have managed to hold on the these? Nod Yes

skippy1969 - 2008-04-29 14:59

Your Welcome! I have the DC33L but,I've never heard the DC-7. I know there are a few members who have one though. The DC33l is nice, but it is weak in the bass department. The woofers are the problem,I know that there is a member on here who upgraded his woofers. He said it sounds awesome now.... Nod Yes

You're right skippy. The DC33L was a "screamer". The bass was unremarkable but, if memory serves, it certainly was loud. 1000 years ago when I was in High School I was on the tech staff for the school talent show. We had this hugh auditorium but we didn't have access to the sound system for the rehearsals so we used my jvc DC33L for the music. It had more than enough volume to fill the room...just not with bass. Smile
