Questions for Lasonic i931 owners

tardpie - 2008-04-10 20:03

I got mine in the mail wednesday, and I'm having a few issues, or I'm curious about a few things, at the very least.

1) The i931 is supposed to charge an iPod while connected, correct? That's what it says in the user manual. However, my i931 does not charge any iPod (i have tried several). Do yours charge?

2) There is an audible humming noise when I have an iPod connected to my i931, whether it is playing music or not. How about yours? Is that normal?

#3) In the user manual, it mentions how the i931 will not support the video function for ipod touch, but the ipod touch doesnt even fit in the i931. I connected mine to the dock, but the door doesnt close with the ipod touch - its too tall.

Yes, using any of those inputs result in a low level humming/buzzing. It's not just you. I hear the same thing and a friend of mine who bought one hears it as well. I did not expect perfection with these so I am just going to live with it. Once you turn the volume up a bit it seems to subside. Those inputs seem to be generating some kind of low level distortion.
Chris listen again, you will probably hear it.

Send it back, why pay $169 for crap, you can walk out your front door and find a dog owner and get some for free.

What about the non-charging issue? Anyone else experiencing this?

Here is Lasonic's response to my email:

I am afraid that the unit need to be checked. It was happening for a some
units since the merchandise was delivered by sea. Perhaps some of
connections has been loosen.

Therefore, there is 2 options to solve your problems :

1. Send it back to markertek.com to get exchange
2. Deal with send the unit back to us to get check/repair.

Please inform us which one are you going to do. The RMA will be issuing upon
your confirmation.

Mine doesn't charge either. Mine also doesn't power up using batteries and for about one week half of the led screen was blank and then it started working again.

I think I will just stick with plugging my 80 gig ipod into my JVC M70 for a awhile then.....

Noise is likely to happend when digital and analog circuits are mixed and not well isolated.
Happen all the time with cheap motherboard with onboard sound.
Also in my MP3 player (a generic one). It clear that each time the screen scrolls, makes a little noise, thats more noticeable when you pause the playback since the screen continue scrolling. For me is more a firmware issue than a cupled noise. Anyway it sohws poor design ...

About display, dependign of type, moisture condensed betwen LCD and zebra connector can produce that some dots/segments shows weakly or blank display.

Not only will that be more reliable , im guessing it will also sound much better. Big Grin
Sadly enough no new fangled I-dock box is ever going to compare with a high quality box of days past.
