Me too... not so much because of sound (it's usually good, but I think high-end Sharps and JVC's generally sound better), but because of the sheer numbers of boxes Panasonic made... and all the variations (National, National Panasonic, Quasar, and a few rebadged as store brands, like Realistic). It's hard for me NOT to collect lots of Panasonics since there are so many out there. Same with their portable/transistor radios.

I'd have to vote JVC because most of my top boxes are JVC (M90, M70, PC-550, RC-550). Other than that I have a pretty even mix of Sanyo, Aiwa, Sharp and Panasonic of which they all made some great boxes.

Panasonic S U R E.

Overall quality and reliability is excelent. from botton to top boxes.
Also, almost components of the BBX, like speakers, motors, integrated circuits, capacitors, transformers etc were made by Panasonic (mitsumi). No one is big enoguh to achive this. And that allowed Panasonic to control quality in a depth way. You don't need to worry about components, since you develop them !!!!!

Overall I would say my lasonics - I have some individual boxes like m90,5350 that I would put above the lasonics - but as far as a whole group, I have really tried to get every one piece lasonic I can find out about and they are a really cool group. And my top Lasonic - the 935 ranks up at the top end of my collection in sound and looks.
