Too be Young Again...

ohboy - 2008-03-26 20:03

Well, I found this site a little less than two months ago... Needless to say, I've been hooked ever since (reading almost everyday!) This is a hobby I have had for about three years now, not a very long time, but I have been so much more into it since I found this place.

The reading, the learning, and sometimes just the fun! I really find this to be a great place with great people. Most of all though, this place has made feel, well, younger...

I dont know how to describe that, but, I know that when I have free time at work, I am on this site like I am studying for my favorite class, and when I am in my car listening to the radio, I feel like I am walking down Queens Boulevard, box in hand, going to meet up with my friends, and when I am home on the computer, I set up a different box, and play different tunes, get on here, and it's like I am back in the day, chillin' with the guys (and girls) on the block...
My wife says I am 14 again, hanging out with the rest of the 14 year olds, Laugh Out Loud, but she says with the greatest of affection... she sees what I feel....

I or we may not be any younger, buts its nice to have found a place that can bring me back to all those memories!!!

Thanks to everyone on this site

oldskool69 - 2008-03-27 02:30

Ohboy, my wife is the same way. As a matter of fact she says to me while I'm on the site that we're worse than a bunch of old men that gather together and talk about the good ol' days! I told her that is exactly what we are and have dragged along some young uns' too!Laugh Out Loud But she enjoys the fact that I have a hobby that everyone in the house enjoys and are curious about. Glad you're here and you hit some of the rasons we do what we do! Big Grin

All of our wives and girlfriends should support this hobby and S2G. What a harmless hobby outside of the money we spend and the space we require for the boxes. Big Grin

peter.griffin - 2008-03-27 08:44

yup, just turned 40, and looking at my boomboxes takes me back to my teensSmile

My Wife won't let me get anymore boomboxes, so basically I'm living vicariously through you guys now.

I am turning 40 this fall... or "halfway to 80" as I like to call it. It is sad when wives won't "let" you do the things you love. The trick is to have so much of your hobby around that she won't notice an addition. Or if she does give her the "this old thing?" line. The best thing both of you is probably get her to agree to a number of boxes you will limit yourself to owning at any one point in time. That way you can buy/sell/trade and still have some fun without it getting way out of hand. BTW I think some of you guys should have picked a number YEARS ago. Laugh Out Loud

peter.griffin - 2008-03-27 09:05

haha, Yeah, I did that onceSmile Then she found out. So now, every few weeks, she'll look at one and say, "I don't remember that one, is that new"?Frown

71spud - 2008-03-27 09:10

The next thing you know she will make you haul them all out and take a mug-shot of each one to compare to any "suspect" boomers.... No No

I have used the "This is my hobby" line too many times with too many collections. I am setting myself up for a nice "midlife crisis" collection soon. Any suggestions? Cool
