Weekend Score ! Tecsonic MX-900

smokinendo - 2008-03-22 12:51

Check it out guys... Got up this morning looked outside and thought to myself "It's 37° and it looks like it's about to start raining" I almost didn't go out LOL

Anyway I hit the first row of the flea-market and started to get a really good feeling...

Two rows later I scored a little guy for my son and saw two 3 piece units that I passed on.

I walk a little further and start to think "I REALLY hope I find something... it's FRICKIN FREEZIN out here"

I get to the last row (in the dirt) and I'm down to the last three venders when I think to myself "Come ON PLEASE one of these last three guys... PLEASE come through for me"

This usually NEVER WORKS LOL

Today was different Smile

Check out what I got

Needed a REALLY good cleaning

So I spent the morning cleaning Big Grin

still needs more but it's a Holiday weekend so I'll give it a rest for now LOL

Here's my son's new box as well (He is so excited

He said "Dad can I join the Boom Box site so I can tell those guys about my new Boom Box LOL Kids are so cute

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-22 13:18

Oh yes that's awesome, nothing like that feeling of finding a nice box in the wild and flea markets are awesome for it. They cleaned up really nice, sometimes they are diamonds in the rough and it's up to us to see past the dirt and grime. Nod Yes

oldskool69 - 2008-03-22 14:05

Great Find!!! And she cleaned up really nice.
I got my little guy a box too.
He is six years old and has his own Sharp GF-8989 Smile

jimski - 2008-03-22 18:17

which flea market was this found at

smokinendo - 2008-03-22 18:48

Thanks for all the great replies guys Smile

fatboyrafe- Thanks it was very ironic to see your thread with the same box that I just scored posted the same day LOL Good Luck ! Patience will pay off TRUST ME. I may be new to the site but I've been hunting for years.

oldskool69- There was a Lasonic and I forget what the other one was ? I'll have to check them out next weekend. I'd go tomorrow but it will land me in divorce court LOL If you want it though I'll totally grab it for you. I've told my wife that I want to take my digital camera with me so that I can get pics of all the boxes I see cause Lord knows I can't buy them all LOL. I should do a "Smokin Endo's weekly report" That way I don't leave anything that somebody's been looking for. I could take picx on all the BBX'x I see. I live 20 minutes from Philly and 1 hour from the beach so there's a lot used portable audio stuff floating around. LMK if you collect that stuff and I'll see what I can do to help.

manleytronix- Thanks Smile My son needs no help LOL He's a newage B-Boy... He and his friends are all about Hip-Hop, Breakdancing, Skating, BBX's... heck you name it and they're down with it. In Fact we're thinking of entering a photo with the kids for that Dopepose.com LOL

DecentMan4you- I'm in Dirty Jerz baby... LOL Where you at ? My boy Don lives in Corpus Kristy (sp?) (great another guy to worry about every time it rains LOL

Arkay- I had my son take a look at your reply, He is think about a name and I'll let you guys know when he actually signs up as he doesn't seem to be letting up on the issue... Young Boomerz

transamguy1977- Gotta get em started young... my wife and I are trying to buy an i931 to put away for his Birthday in Nov. Today when I got him the little guy he said "Man now when I find one a little bigger I can move up and I'll just keep going till I got one JUST LIKE YOURS !" I love my son. Today he said "When I get bigger I want to be just like you DAD... Your so cool"

Kids are the greatest Cool

jimski- LOL The one right by me

ford93 - 2008-03-22 18:58

Our legacy will carry on with our youngies thats so cool.

jimski - 2008-03-22 19:05

jimski- LOL The one right by me[/QUOTE
which one by u cow town ,berlin?

moncheeto - 2008-03-22 19:17

yes getting the kids interested in the hobby is a wonderful thing as these boxes are older than the kids of this generation, nice find for both Big Grin

daiwa - 2008-03-22 19:58

Wow endo, that's slammin man! Love a champagne box and those are really appealing with all that fat chrome. EXCELLENT! Time for a celebratory "fattie" Wink

smokinendo - 2008-03-22 20:12

ford93- Thanks Smile My son is totally old school. Here he is on his 1986 GT Performer jr that I restored for him three years ago on Christmas. This kid is as cool as the come, I wish I was like him when I was younger Big Grin

Jimski- You already know what it is

Ramon I swear I never try to push my old memories on my kids I think it's better to let them go they're own way and try my best to make they're own child hood memorable however I often find that they enjoy my old stuff over what's going on in today's world. What can I do... We grew up in a helluvan era... the 80's RULE LOL

smokinendo - 2008-03-22 20:30

Daiwa-thanks,somehow I missed your reply LOL

Here are a few better pix I took tonight...I too love the color Smile

Thanks! It's great your son is involved. My son (8yrs old.) loves to watch me reapir mine or tune them. He is going to help me with my March Review. He will be psing with the RX-C100 in with his new Sketchers. I am a multi-piece boombox fan so if you find some juicy stuff (Like the Lasonic, was it the on with the 3 way speakers-white woofer?) let me know and if I can work it out I will. If I find something here for another member I'll definitely let them know. Big Grin

smokinendo - 2008-03-22 20:58

^ I'm sure it'll be there next weekend. I'll grab it for you and we'll do what it takes so you end up with it Smile

Anyone know what year my Tecsonic is ? Also is "golden goose" a term you guys came up with ? I like it but want to know more about it (if there's more to it LOL)

Thanks Guys

L8R Brian

fatboyrafe - 2008-03-22 22:04

it's so beautiful!

how is the sound on this one? someone somewhere else said it had a tinny ring to it, but i haven't heard that anywhere else.

again, i can't get over how amazing it looks. like it was made yesterday!

baby.boomer - 2008-03-23 05:26

Absolutely wonderful finds, restoration work... and son! Big Grin You're the Triple Crown winner. Congratulations!! Nod Yes

jimski - 2008-03-23 05:52

I passed up alot of stuff at berlin and the others around town, I think i would have passed on this too,Im looking for some sentimental stuff now gf- 9696,pc350 mint becouse mine needs work,But great find.

smokinendo - 2008-03-24 06:35

Thanks again guys Smile

fatboyrafe- I like the way it sounds so much that I have put away my GF777 Sharp for a little while LOL I still think the GF sounds better but I want to hear this box for a bit. It sounds a little tinny as you mentioned but it still sounds great, as I enjoy some good treble. The bass isn't as deep as the Sharp but it still sounds good to me

Hope you find something soon and welcome to the site Smile Thanks again for the kind remarks about the clean up

Baby Boomer- Thanks Bro Smile My kids mean the world to me and we have a great time together Smile

Jimski-thanks

beatbox - 2008-03-24 07:05

Great score and nice pics of the box and of your kid. Well done on all counts!

petey.awol - 2008-03-24 09:47

86 gt...i think i had the purple one...man that picture brought me back so many memories. There is NO WAY i could fit on a bike like that now. I'm 6'5 215lbs. I'd need a bigger framed modern day Hoffman or something i would assume.

(Those back pegs have given me serious wounds on my legs back then. You be riding on them and you friend hits a bump.....u lose footing and slide down both sides like razors slicing into you and or the tire burns.)

smokinendo - 2008-03-25 05:38

Beatbox Thankx Smile I love your new avatar, I actually have some pictures from when they were filming ET. On Set shots. I'll have to share them with you guys in another post some day.

Peter Don't worry Bro I'll make sure what ever you ride can handle your size (Maybe a 24' cruiser). Look at this pic from BITD of my boy Ray totally destroying this kids back wheel (Z-rim LOL... You made me think of it just now LOL

Check out the Lasonic Smile

Last bike comment in this thread Wink That Purple GT that I have I actually found in the trash while visiting my wife for lunch one day. Check it out

Before cleaning (as I found it in the trash)

After a good cleaning a new grips, cables, chain and brake pads...that's it)

retro.addict - 2008-03-25 09:24

That's a gorgeous boombox, I love the colour! Eek It looks huge, well done! Cool
