Back in the early to mid 80's a friend of mine had a great mid-sized silver & chrome boombox. It had such a great sound. Kinda had alot of features with a single cassette. No eq that I recall. "Pioneer" comes to mind. Was there such a thing? Kinda looks like this but a lil taller .I know the name sounds close. I believe it was a Pioneer. JENS? or Anyone?

In the early 80s, I had a Pioneer SK-31 boombox. It was really nice, but I no longer have it, I lent it to a friend and it got damaged in a trip. From what I remember, it sounded pretty good. Here's a link to a site that has picture (near the bottom of the page):

Wow, Jens. Well, it had 2 tweeters (top corners), 2 woofers with silver, round grills. Front tuner window with front facing knobs and switches. cant remember if 1 or 2 antennas. Unknown color woofers. Hope this helps. Thanks.

Ramon you might be right. I was pretty convinced it was a Pioneer bought judging from the Pioneer pics I've seen so far, It looks more like a Panny.

In 1979, I purchased a Pioneer SK-31 Boombopx from the Army PX in Seaul, Korea! This was a very heavy duty boombox that sounded great! I had it several years and the very first part that went out was the power switch. I had it replaced, and then this particular model, began to have a mind of it's own. The switch went out again, at least I thought, and then in order to turn the radio on, I had to hit the play button on the cassette deck then turn on the power switch to tha radio which for some crazy reason, turned the radio on. Recently, I found a Pioneer SK-31 for .99 on EBAY. When I received the unit, I took it to my TV-Audio repair guy who gave it a nice tune up. Everything worked great with the exception of the cassette deck that was not repairable becuase the parts were no longer in stock. I sold it on Ebay to a guy for a few dollars. To sum it up, my repair guy told me that the Pioneer units had some cassette problems in many of their units.
