Tip find , with a hell of a twist

r.o.y.a.l - 2008-09-01 11:31

Ok, this is gonna be a long post for me !

I decided to pop past the local tip , even tho it was raining , to check for any boxes. The storge method for electrical items has changed recently to my advantage. There is a huge skip sitting there full of electric stuff . .

Right at the top is this, a fully filthy, fully complete practically mint sanyo M7900L.

At my local tip there are about 4 members of staff , one of which is very cool and another who is very much a ****. So I went of to the nice guy , asked what he wanted for the radio. The arsehole guy then snatched it from me , looked at me like a total nutter a said :

"fiver" (meaning 5 english pounds) I then jokingly said , what even with all this crap on it . . He replied " I dont give a sh@t about the dirt , 5 pound or f@ck off ! ! "

So I was like , errrrr , ok , I'll **** off then . . .

I got about 20 seconds down the road in my car and thought , f@ck this ! ! ! I'm gonna get to the bottom of this and get that sanyo ! ! ! I drove back , to find him punching some harmless old mans range rover like a total deranged nutter . . turns out he has just split up with his misses , Is a total arsehole and is having a full blown mental melt down right at the time I choose to find a box ! ! ! !

Now there's no way I'm leaving without this sanyo , so I just picked it up , got in my car and drove straight out of the entrance avoiding tw@t man - no mates ! job's a goddun ! !

Cant wait to go back tomorrow ! ! !

I know this looks a state in the pic's , but wait till I'm finished with It , I'll add the pics once the job is done.

Great find, to bad you had to deal with an A$$hole.
I think I might know why his misses split up with him. Laugh Out Loud

Regardless of the adventure...YOU WON! Big Grin

great story royal, great box to and not a bad sound for a mini, look foward to seeing it all fixed up

r.o.y.a.l - 2008-09-01 12:43

thanks fellas ! That guy had meltdown . . It was insane . . . . . . . . .

I was amazed to find that the sanyo , although totally coated in years of crap was a minter underneath Smile

I would have gladly paid the $9 USD and ran away giggling like a little girl! Laugh Out Loud

That box looks like a good candidate for Orange Glo cleaner. Nod Yes

Hold up a second... You mean to tell us that you drove back and straight up jacked him of his box? Eek Laugh Out Loud

Not that he deserved it anyway... Big Grin

Man, that's gangsta! Cool Laugh Out Loud

WOW,great story and a great little box! I would have done the same thing too Royal. Big Grin Nod Yes

Nice one royal.
Some people need to be tought that civility costs nothing & rudeness like that is unacceptable, whatever his problems are. Too damn much of that sort of thing going on these days.
Looking forward to seeing the Sanyo sparkling like new...

Royal - that's a funny story.

My local tip is very similar -> two decent blokes and then one complete fool who goes ballistic if you bring 1 more than your allocation of 3 bags of rubble or if you show any interest in buying anything. Got to pick and choose when I go to get round it.

Nice one on getting a box off them though - look forward to seeing a picture.

I've also signed up for a local 'freecycle' initiative as another potential source - do you do that as well?

gluecifer - 2008-09-02 06:17

hahah awesome story Royal. It's funny how pissy people in those positions can be. Been tempted a couple of times on ebay for that Sanyo, but never bit the bullet.

Looking forward to seeing how she cleans up!

And any luck on those 2 knobs for the TPR-955?
I'll be receiving her tomorrow, will let you know if theres anything else missing.

Rock On.

r.o.y.a.l - 2008-09-02 06:27

glucifier , mine are silver for the 950 , not black for the 955 . . you are welcome to them tho

retro.addict - 2008-09-02 07:36

Pitty you had to deal with that loser who works there, but that's a nice little box you've got! Cool

It's a pleasant change to see a mini with bass & treble controls instead of a tone control! Smile

It looks like it will clean up wonderfully. Some of my near-mintballers (including my beautiful sparkly Sharp GF-9000 & GF-777) looked much worse than that Sanyo when I found them! Nod Yes

fuzzyduck - 2008-09-04 13:22

Nice score, another one saved! Big Grin

What an idiot, hope the old guy reported him to the boss! Eek Eek

Sounds like the new skip is to do with the new WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) directive. Luckily my dump is too small for a WEEE bin so they keep them aside for the exporters rather than throwing them all in a skip where they'll get wrecked.
