HEALING BRAND!

weylandyutani - 2008-03-19 01:04

Hey anyone got a "HEALING" brand box? Had one years ago i stole off my sister cant remember what happened to it.

tpr - 2008-03-19 02:30

welcome aboard weyland/yutani,

no we never heard of the HEALING brand.
If you could describe the radio properly
speakers
single/double cassette
tuning knob front/side
scale front /top
speaker coverings round/rectangle

maybe we find it in the database.

Indeed, welcome aboard. Smile

Healing? I've never heard of that brand and you've even stumped Jens, that's not easy to do.

Never heard of it. Surely a rare find and if you stump TPR, you've got a rare one indeed if you find it. Welcome aboard and get ready for lots of witty fun! Big Grin

yeap looks like a rare one indeed Smile

fatboyrafe - 2008-03-19 23:01

sure it's not Helix? just saying, sounds sort of similar, could get mixed up if it was long ago.

weylandyutani - 2008-03-19 23:49

Great to be in good company guys thanks for the welcome!!!!Wifey just doesnt understand haha. It was definately a healing my sister brought it new when she was living in australia bout 1983 It is only a 2 speaker very square little deck that was no bigger(in fact prob smaller)than my Sanyo M9930K ,tuner dial was on side it had a silver front the rest black 2 seperate volume controls with a tone control in the middle of them quite basic. However it was the loudest small deck I have ever heard and the tone range was huge. Gona see if sister dear might have it burried somewhere!

That was my first thought too. Welcome aboard, fatboyrafe and weyland!

Never heard of it I'm afraid. Nice name for a box though. Could be useful when trying to convince the partner to let you have just one more box. "But it's good for your health". Big Grin Welcome aboard Weyland!!!

I saw that Healing is an electronics brand, but I can only find them making satellite receivers. I can't find any old ads for the portable radios. Do you know of any publications from back then that might have advertised the radio??

weylandyutani - 2008-03-23 22:10

Hey check out the birth of boomboxes the "GE" at the bottom of the first page is the closest looking box i have seen to the healing one im rambling about.

found this finally...

one more

masterblaster84 - 2008-03-24 08:59

Good find Jens but I don't know if it qualifies as a boombox. Smile This has been a real stumper, not one Healing boombox, if they are real they must be incredibly rare.

tpr - 2008-03-24 15:55

Right MasterBlaster,I saw a HEALING transistor radio too ,so possibly another company got the trademark/brand but can`t find the link anymore.

bosun - 2008-03-24 17:36

AG Healing Limited OF 167-173 Franklin Street Melbourne,Australia was a radio manufacturer
which was later taken over by Philips,I believe.
I hope that this info can help.
