Hello people ..

A question for Jens, but anybody can help too

I wanted to know National / Panasonic realease dates from different models, but only those betwen mid seventies and mid eigthies ...
I guess a difficult question, more when talk on early models, RS, RQ and RF's

When a BBX is original, I always look the motor, it gives me the aprox manufacturing date ...

The one you have pictured as your avtar is the first real boom box I ever owned; I received it new as a gift in 1978. I personally always thought that the mid 70s to early 80s were the prime years for boom boxes, outstanding quality, variety and innovation. After about 1982 the boom box marketing strategy changed to one of mass production and profitability by introducing larger size flashy but cheaper quality boxes. I remember noticing a great decline in craftsmanship way back then. Ironically, this era also began the popular boom box age that is celebrated on this site as they became more affordable. Sorry, I kinda drifted from your main subject.

Oh -the average production span in the 70s was 4-5 years!
There is a number of verified dates in the BBDB(panasonic:ca.5%)
based on different origins:
1.:brochures
2.:data sheets
3.:stamps on plastic/motor (like you say success)
4.:manuals bible

verified:definitely -produced/sold/advertised- in descripted year ,but probably with positive and/or negative range around this year.

Any chance to contact somebody at Panasonic, or who had worked at in the BBX era. This data most exists !!!
Yeah product spam is long ... Imagine the cost of the tooling to make the enclosure. They need to sell a lot to cancel this one.
Perhaps release date plus span is more accurate.
