I picked up a Beosystem 10 in black today and the sound is superb, but seems to lack Dolby!pAID 35 pounds, paid a little over the odds.
I will get some pictures up later on today.

I havn't got the wall bracket. I'm a little concerned with mine as the display does not seem to light up above the cassette door. Should a display light up as I don't know.

Not bad sound at all, but after trawling the net I've read that the system was over priced for a basic radio and thats why not many sold hence its rarity. It's very beautiful and is better looking in the flesh. The radio is very striking, sleek and very long.
Anyone else got one of these?

Yes. Took me a while to find and figure out how to operate all the controls... including the tuning dial!
Cool... it looks minimalistic and sophisticated.

Is that handle made from brushed aluminium?
Its a minter now that I've cleaned it up. The handle is indeed brushed alloy and the set is heavy for its size. Frightened to use it

Well, I don't think £35 is too much for one of those. Sure it needed a clean up, but if it was fully working, I reckon you did fine on the price. These are rare, top quality & look oh so cool in that B&O way. Congrats

James (DM4U) noticed it, too, and we talked about it in
this thread. I thought it would be fun if his and my avatars were alike: his was distinguished and cool, while mine was a wreck. As I mentioned in that other thread, I had a short-lived and somewhat unsuccessful bus driving career (in Chicago, not in Houston) and my avatar kind of symbolizes that. I was hoping James would notice... and he did! That made me happy!
Now, back to the Beosystem 10. Thought I'd show a few pics of mine for comparison. It's all black. I've included photos of the hidden controls (including the cool FM presets), odd radio dial slider control, and owner's manual (dated 8/84). Even with the manual, it took me a while to figure everything out, including that radio dial slider!
I fired up this unit today and was surprised (just like I was when I first tried it) by how good it sounds for its size. Extremely clear sound and decent bass, even with just a single treble-bass tone contol (called "Acoustic Mode"). Typical B&O "modern" design, definitely unique among mini's!

Just some things to ask you if you don't mind?
1) Your handle is black and mine is silver, does that mean that the black has rubbed off mine (i'm jellose)?
2) In order to open the cassette door do you have to lower the program cover below/ mine will only open once the program draw is open.
3) does something light up in the panel above the cassette door?
By the way that instruction manual must be mega rare.

1. No, your handle isn't silver because black paint has worn off. You have the B&O name in black on your silver handle, while mine has white lettering on the black handle. That's intentional! Besides, my owner's manual shows a silver-handle version on the cover.
2. My tape compartment opens up (when I press "stop") whether the control compartment door below is open or closed.
3. There is a square LED in the radio dial, between the AM and FM designations, that lights up when a station is tuned in. It's lit in your photos. It's the only light I know of on this unit.
Don't know if the manual is rare or not. I suppose it is, since manuals usually are, but I've never thought much about it. The Beo 10 didn't seem hard to find (on eBay) several years ago. I got two in a matter of months. (My first had a little too much "as is" to be satisfying!) Hope this helps a little!
