Anyone know where i can find a repair shop in NYC? I'm having issues finding something that i'm going to trust. Mainly i need deck work on my gear. Tape player functions. I'm finding i have zero time to sit and crack things open lately to do anything. Any help is always greatly appreciated.

Hey there,

I'm pretty new here, so forgive me if I am not posting properly....
I did a search a while back for the same thing, and found an article in the New York Times about radio repair that mentioned this place:

Japanese American Transistor Service is at 147 West 42d Street, on the lower level. 212-997-1576. Hours: Monday through Thursday, 9 A.M. to 5 P.M.; Friday, 9 A.M. to 6 P.M.

supposedly they fix all sorts of radios and such, including vintage portables... I actually may be heading into Manhattan Tomorrow, and may check them out

Hope that helps....

Hey I contacted an Ebay seller who was based in NYC that was selling a Sharp GF-777, and a Conion C-126. Ebay Link. Now I spoke directly to the guy's son(18 yr old), and he told me that they take there radios to a place in the Lower East Side of Manhattan. He didnt know the name, just remebered where it is. It's on Catherine St. between Cherry and Monroe. (It's off the FDR between the Manhattan and Brooklyn Bridges.) They had a JVC M90 serviced for tape decks. So I'm guessing the repair shop has got to be credible if they can fix that expensive piece of machinery. Got any questions, i can relay em to the guys. Theyare cool with me asking 1 million questions.
