6 Foot wide Boombox

ao - 2008-03-09 13:17

You'll like this. I was contacted last year by some folks who were doing an CD sleeve for a UK act called Blamma Blamma (yeah, me neither) I'd leant out some boomboxes to him before for a Calvin Harris article in Mixmag so I just said 'sure'.

Here's the result

Yeah, thanks Jens, I guess the file was too big. OK, click the link in my top post to get the full pic.

Anyone who can name every box used can come & collect it.

You'll need a hearse.

Not to bring this thread down to a lower level of reality, but .. what IS the LONGEST ACTUAL boombox ever made? And what is the longest-looking (most "pencil-like", if it isn't the same thing?

Just curious...

ya think ?

Probably up there, but I don't know if it's the longest. There is a Sharp (or Sanyo?) with four woofers that is very l-o-n-g, too. I don't have one, but know where I can SEE one (by peering through the crack over a door; it's hanging on the opposite wall, where I can't see it too clearly. I think it may well be even longer than the Marantz, maybe by a few/several inches(?). I'm hoping one day to get it, but the owner knows audio stuff and knows what it is, and uses it himself, so I don't think it will be cheap.

Wasn't there a box on ebay recenlty that was 34"-36" long? A Helix maybe? Very long with extended surround speakers? Was it HenryTai that found/ sold it?

I found that one, passed on it, so Henry got it and sold it. It was v-e-r-y long, too. Not sure if it was longer than the four-woofer one I've seen, though. There's a pic of it posted in the original thread, and maybe some stats. I think I may have measured it, too, but if I did, not sure where the notes are right now. Henry will probably know. Hhmmm....yeah, that one would certainly be up there among the longest!
