Fantastic work! What an incredible resource and service to BB collectors.

I can imagine you have good reasons for making this the "final" version (enough years doing something like this is enough, anyway, and you have done more work on this than anyone could ever have asked for) but will there at least be a 'sticky' thread here to show boxes that turn up afterwards that are NOT in the BBDB? As huge and nearly-comprehensive as this magnum opus is, there were so many boxes made that there are bound to be more new ones cropping up from time to time.

Looking at those numbers is interesting. Might give some ideas for limiting collecting, too. Only 180 from the 60s? [I didn't know/remember that they even had boomboxes, other than mono 'transistor radios' then.] Hhhmmm, that might be a target that would automatically limit the size of the collection, given that most of them would be hard to find, anyway... Big Grin

Anyway, GREAT JOB! Even this guy is applauding all your work:

tpr - 2008-03-08 08:20

thanks Arkay-!

Such a thread might be interesting ,on the other hand :there might always be an aka model...

I believe there are "really unknowns",but I doubt that there are many...

isolator42 - 2008-03-10 09:40

Jens, are you stopping producing the BBDB after this version?

If so, a while after (when it's no longer for sale), it would be great if there was a way to get the BBDB online, for registered s2g users to update...

meanwhile, I await the Vista version Smile

tpr - 2008-03-10 09:59

As mentioned: the final, gold edition will content around 11.000 units. And yes, nevertheless I`ll update it now and then after publishing.
On the other hand: there IS ALREADY an on line boombox source at gedcom's site.where you can find thousands of boxes.

fatdog - 2008-03-21 20:38

Hey Jens, will the new BBDB also have tech notes? I seem to remember you saying something about adding technical tips and such.

tpr - 2008-03-21 22:12

it will have tech. specs rsp descriptions for around 900 boxes...
...and a couple of repair notes.
refoaming, belt change ,cleaning tips...

fatdog - 2008-03-22 06:46

Sweet! Nod Yes
