My newly acquired Modulaire 2250 has just arrived!!!!!!

The ebay seller was "rhoel" and I must say he did an excellent job in packaging and shipping.

Here's the Modulaire 2250 Central Unit paired with the Modulaire 2200 Central Unit to give you an idea between the difference between the two models in relation to size:

It looks like the 2250 is slightly wider and shorter than the 2200.

Here's the front panel of the 2200. I have the speakers packed up somewhere in a box or closet so that's all I have visible of the 2200 for the moment:

In terms of sound, the Modulaire 2250 sounds great. Nice overall quality, just like the 2200. I wish I had my 2200's speakers out to compare the two, but I will one day.

This 2250 is fully working including the cassette decks. The radio stations pick up great with the replacement antenna. One thing I did notice on deck A when playing the tape, is when I played the tape, everything was fine. However, the tape was caught in the head when I try to pull out the cassette after ejecting. I wound the tape back into the cassette using my finger and tried deck A again. The tape played fine. I ejected it again and gently pulled the cassette out. This time the tape did not get caught. I tried the same for deck B and all went well.

I wonder if cleaning the decks with a cassette cleaner would prevent things like this from happening, especially considering the fact that boomboxes like these are vintage? That's what I'm thinking.

Anyhow, rhoel is a great ebay seller based on this experience and I would recommend him to anyone.

nice pickup i remember when they came out.

some of the radio shack boxes are a bit underrated. most were made by ge or sanyo

EJ I think your right, that looks like a Sanyo C series clone. I'm not sure of the model but I'm thinking Sanyo C-30 or C-40.

Hey kvmoore, you can clean the tape heads with a Q-tip and rubbing alcohol also buy a tape demagnetizer at Radio Shack or try ebay. Smile

Thanks Ford93, I'll try that.

I remember reading in another thread about the 2250 and it was compared to the Sanyo C-35. There were 3 different versions of the C-35.

Thanks everyone. It's my second box (first newly purchased box) far as my collections goes. Hopefully one day, funds will allow me to aquire enough boxes to gradually grow a real collection. Some of you guys collections are very impressive and spectacular with 100+ radios.

I'm not really looking for a collection on that scale but maybe a dozen boxes overall in which at least 4 or 5 of them are really nice supersized ghettoblasters in the same class as the Super-Jumbo J-1 and Conion C-100F in excellent condition would suit me just fine (one wall). And yeah, those are quite expensive and hard to get a hold of. Then again, the Realistic Modulaire boomboxes are also difficult to get a hold of and extremely hard to come by.

Good thing there's ebay. You never know what you might find!!!
