You will probably need a member from Europe or Asia to get it for you. Like a lot of these boxes only certain ones were sold in the U.S. This I can vouch as fact being a military brat as well as an enlisted person. One of the most irritating things I discovered is that all the good stuff realy was overseas. Think of the JVC PC-55. The silver version was sold in the U.S. Around the world you could get silver or black(PC-550). There were also standards agencies such as DIN Standard 45000 that hifitom mentioned. I have seen a silver RC-550, at the time I didn't think much of it. I was 15 and wasn't interested. I thought it was interesting but that was about it. This is like the Sanyo C1 with the white woofers and light gray surrounds. We know it as the C7, but in Asia you could get that version. It was all about the market. Remeber in the U.S. back in the eighties even J.R Music World didn't have as what you could get overseas. In the 'States choices available were based on what they thought would sell here based more on culture than what someone actually interested in he product would want. Look at some old Panasonic ads with Earth Wind & Fire. Did people want the box because it had great features and loked good? Or was it because Earth, Wind & Fire was seen walking with one? Hmmmm... Also keep in mind that JVC may have had a limited run. There was no big marketng or internet push then. Just some chains may have had it exclusively keeping it rare. Big Grin

Jens? i would also like proof. its fine to say you can only get one in europe or asia, but i dont think even then they can be got. that one on ebay.de was the first one ever seen on this forum, i think, which nominates it for rarest box ever, ever, ever

Ok Ned,there were ONLY a few (from the big global players (like JVC,PHILIPS AIWA,PANASONIC asf.) boxes I`ve seen so rarely in my live. The first one was the d8443/d8444 from Philips, which I saw firstly in Hamburg in black with red lettering in the WIESENHAVERN shop.Commonly this model was sold /appeared in grey and silver, nevertheless I saw an advertisement once with this box as well.We talked about this PHILIPS several years ago,you remember.
The second one is indeed the silver version of a rc550.I saw this in a PX-Shop in Karlsruhe and in Hamburg in the Spitalerstrasse 10 at BRINKMANN`s.At that time BRINKMANN and WIESERNHAVERN were the biggest electronic shops in northern Germany. And yes,the silver rc550 was shown in the shop display beside a rc530(I NEVER saw one again). It was only mentioned in the ge-manuals bible-not in the american edition.Never saw this in a brochure.

What the hell is an RC530!??!?!?!?!!!

ned.209 - 2008-02-24 09:39

rock. i was thinking it was genuine, because the detail is so "right". if you look at the jvc badge down the bottom, it just fits. i doesnt look like someone just sprayed it.

im going to spray mine, i think the large speaker will look better on a grey background.

the jvc#-rc530 IBBN 7-02339 is very similar to the jvc#-rc545 IBBN 7-02340

the difference:
black instead of white needle meter-background

unfortunately I do NOT have a clear picture from the rc530

I know then exactly then what you're speaking of. I was a military brat over there from 83-85 in Stuttgart at Vaihingen (Patch Barracks). And stationed there as a soldier from 90-93. (At a German Kaserne behind Robinson Baracks)Big Grin By the way "NO!", you didn't have to yell at me! Laugh Out Loud
