GOT TO DO IT!!! GOT TO!!!!!!!!

bredgeo - 2008-02-11 13:04

Here is a link guys!!!!!!!!

Have a look and understand that TEAC is VERY CLOSE to producing this!!!!!!!!!

All they need is a push from us!!!!!!!!! The more of us to write and tell them that we are ready to buy the quicker they will produce!!!!!!

I also got echoes that they were talking to LOSONIC reps about the possibility of doing/making this a reality!!!!!!!! A link to send TEAC E-mails will be following!!!!!!!

DO THE RIGHT THING!

http://stereo80s.com/

It has also been talked about here:

http://stereo2go.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/3856054064/m/85...o.com%2Feve%2Fforums

Okay, here is the TEAC link to send them the nice letter to have them produce this future correct looking, non-egg, digital, real boombox!

http://www.teac.com/contact.html

Please do write them with good words on how you would really be interested in buying if they produce!

skippy1969 - 2008-02-11 13:21

mafiagato - 2008-02-12 01:12

panasonic.fan - 2008-02-13 09:05

Message from Bredgeo from deleted topic:

So, have any of you sent a message to TEAC to push them in producing thier prototype???????

I sent one, and it would be good, grand, fantastic if other ST2G members did as well... even if they do not intend buying one one day.

Just go to this link:
here

Click on the TEAC link and send a message by clicking on thier "Contact Us".....

Think of all the young people out there that would finally have something better than thier mobile phones to listen to thier music in the streets......... Like we did!!!!!!!

Bedgeo, please use this featured thread to talk about this.

Thanks.

jt - 2008-02-18 12:48

Wow, that thing looks so much more substantial than the Lasonic that its not even fair to classify them as the same kind of product!

I sent an email to TEAC. Lets hope they build that thing!!!! I want one!

It looks fantastic, lets hope it sounds as good as it looks!

JT

jt - 2008-02-18 12:50

It actually looks like a silver Sanyo M9990, eh?

Very nice indeed! I love the fact that it has an EQ, too!

Ahhhhhh....... Finally a response!!!!!!!

THANKS JT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes it looks good! 10 ZILLION times better than the LASONIC........ Than again, the LASONIC in black looks acceptable.......... Roll Eyes

So, a few more E-mails to TEAC and we SHOULD be getting a modern, perfectly correct looking, squarish 80s retro Bbox!

jt - 2008-02-18 14:47

LOL, yea... IMHO, the Teac is the perfect vision of what a solid retro-box should look like. Looks like they did their homework. VU meters, EQ, analog tuner, twin antennas, YEAH BABY!!!!

To be completely honest, I don't really dig the new Lasonic much, regardless of whether its the black or white version. I was never impressed by the rounded edge Lasonic design at all, and even for the low price they will supposedly be selling for I'm not interested enough to want to rush out and buy one right away. Compared to a good JVC or Sharp from the same era, even the more desireable early Lasonics seem cheaply made and didn't sound as good.

This TEAC will be a must-have. I'm sure we'll hear that many in this forum will feel the same way as the word spreads.

thafuzz - 2008-02-18 14:56

I emailed them a few days ago with a "build it now" request.

tpr - 2008-02-18 16:35

bredgeo - 2008-02-18 21:21

$500 USD............ Is that all??????!!!!!!!!

I am taking two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It looks really small to me. That iPod looks huge in there next to those small speakers...

jt - 2008-02-19 09:09

Did you see the pic of the poser with it on his shoulder? To me it looks to be about the same size as a Sanyo M9990, which I think is at the smaller end of what is often referred to as the mid-size box category.

I don't think that overall size is necessarily an indicator of (nor as important as) the overall sound it delivers. I just hope that the final product if/when it is available to us has a high-quality, substantial feel to it and delivers crisp, punchy sound.

LOL! I love it..! Great pic!

Jens, is that you with the 990???? Looks like the shopping area in downtown Munich, maybe?

Reminds me of when I lived in Germany in my teens and was blasting the P-funk and Cameo all over the place. I went through D-size batteries with reckless abandon back then.

My friends and I didn't care at all about upsetting all the crusty old Deutschers who scoffed at us and called us "Lause-Bengel," "Hunds-Grippe" or sometimes even "Ami-Schweine"!

It was always really funny to all of us when I would then reply back to them in perfect German with "wenn's zu laut ist, dan sind sie einfach zu alt" and they realized I actually understood every word they said.

LOL, good times!!! Anyway, back to work for me now!

Take care,

JT

LOL!!! Looks like we were there at the same time, where'd you live? And I have that Funkadelic album, too! And since you went there with the funk, lets not forget about Bootsy Collins, Lakeside, Slave, Lenny White, Rose Royce, Bohannon, Rick James & Herbie Hancock!!! Those artists were kickin' out some serious funk that all got blasted through my GF-9292 at some point. I remember that it was always such a competition amongst us to see who could make the best sounding mixtape.

God, I loved that 9292. It became my launching point into proper home gear, too. At 14 years old I was bagging groceries at the commisary on weekends for tips and then I'd talk my dad into going to the audio store at the base exchange with me so he could put gear on layaway for me. At one point my Sharp had a turntable, external speakers and a tape deck connected to it. It got to the point where I wouldn't even bother to take it out of the house anymore because of all the uplugging I had to do. Then, I finally bit the bullet and bought a proper integrated amp and had mobility again. AAFES audio stores always had killer gear, didn't they?

OK, I'll stop reminiscing now and get back on topic...

I think I really want one of those Teacs!

Take care,

JT

jt - 2008-02-19 20:21

Wow Jens, You're right!!! Good eye! looks like another win for the BB-database! I'd never seen that Sanyo before.

It sure does look like that was their model boombox. It would be interesting to know how that design was conceived by the Teac guys!

No, No...... I guess my imagination is quite "Young"..... so a little nothing will make me laugh.

The fact that Jens played off the Wrong Letter position to me was funny and made me imagine he.... "What? Who? Me....... na, notin' much.... Roll Eyes."

That is all... Big Grin

Don't you know!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They new how to keep the young GIs happy during the Cool War (AND the militay members dedpendents..... us Roll Eyes)!

Everything was served on a silver plater! So them there AAFES "Music Centers, Audio Clubs, Hi-Fi stores... around the bases had the best and latest (in general)!

I was in BFV (Mannheim), so we had quite a few bases to go to around that area... Jens knows K-town (we've talked about that once), Heidelberg, Frankfurt, Darmstat... So if one thing could not be found at the BFV store I/we (the brother and I) would bug the Pa to go to (in general K-town, 'cause they could order for you up the ying-yang)...

Yap, a lot of thing to say.

So you plugged in things to your 9292..... and could not use it, aye? Big Grin

I had actually put lights in mine! Yes... I had changed my 9191 into a "Disco Light" Bbox -WAY BEFORE THE ACTUAL Disco Light Bbox came out!

It was simple, and the light were actually behind the White Speakers... being that they were white was perfect!

Later!

Thanks for clearing that up for me bredgeo, now I can have a good laugh at myself...cuz after my post, Jens returned to his usual av, and had me wondering if I was becoming dyslexic, or senile (or both) in my "old age"! Big Grin Laugh Out Loud
