just wanted to ask something, as a kid i had quite a few of the 3d hitachi's most of them broke and gone now, but i had one that had 3 speakers across the front and one on each end (not like the surround, actually built in each end) it had a twin tape deck and the usual 3d button on the top, just wondered if isolator has missed one! i got it from a summer school i went to at the time the tape dcks didnt work so i asked if i could have it. fixed them.

Hi, sorry for keeping you waiting...
You mean it had a 4th & 5th speaker actually built into the main cabinet, mounted on the ends, firing outwards left & right (in addition to the 2 forward firing speakers & the centre woofer)?

If so, I've never seen a Hitachi 3D like it.
My immediate supposition is that it was a copycat 3D, but I'll be more than happy to unearth an undiscovered Hitachi 3D Smile

The closest Hitachi I know of is the 3D75, but you said "not like the surround, actually built in each end"...

thats correct isolator totall of 5 built in, it was definately hitachi i remember the badge, i also saw it in an argos book when iwas doing a cut and paste on clocks, they had some really old argos books!

another tell tale is i had to repair the cassette decks and they were the normal hitachi twindeck driven by one motor.

i will see if i can find any photos of it on the net

nope had a look cant find nothing wish i kept it now could be worth a few bob, had a thought though, see i looked for dance class boombox since that where i found it, and i just found a kaboom sold with variable speed control for tape and cd designed for dance class see pic..

this is made by portogram for the dance industry it has 2 extra knobs on top for speed control, is it possible that the hitachi 3d i had was produced for dance or modified by another company, since i did get it from a dance class in a very big hall?
