This is why garage sales / flea markets rock. (Post your own finds!)

Saturday was kind of a lazy day for me, as I just wandered around various places looking for boomboxes / old school video games. Usually I find *something*, but it was starting to look like a lost cause. Finally, I stopped at one more sale (actually a church sale), and instantly saw this from about 50 feet away:

An RX-C37. Smile Not the most exotic unit out there, but the price was rather attractive...$1! It's actually a pretty good little Japanese made box, and has decent kick for it's size. I'm currently using it as a line-in system, but still have to give it a proper cleaning.

Post your own garage sale / flea market finds. Smile

Cool find and welcome aboard! I found a GE at a yard sale a few weeks ago for $1 also. I need to get it cleaned up a little and take a pic.

Nice find. Nod Yes

I have an RX-C37L, I love the '80s grid design around the LED indicator. It doesn't have much bass, but it has a lovely clear sound, so nobody can complain at a dollar! I think I got mine for £3. Cool

Welcome, superhitachi4. Smile

Though I already posted about it,this Sears 2103 mini was a great find!Someone was selling out of a storage unit in town and happened to have it.Construction is fairly good and it has metal switches.Though having no bass,it's very loud and can be heard from a distance better than some much bigger boomboxes. There was a time years ago when the smaller radios were just more powerful and louder than we seem to have grown accustomed to expecting in recent years. It's great for podcasts,AM radio and voice.Music sounds loud and very nice also but isn't exactly a full range experience. It actually runs on "AA"s which was a nice surprise.

I found a Panasonic 47_ _? at a Swapmeet during a trip to Pismo Beach,CA. Can't recall the complete model number. I'll confirm it and post a pic. Black in color, single cassette and has red coloring around the front mounted 5 band EQ. $6. At work at the moment. Any guesses for now? It's about the same dimensions as the Pana 5050.

Found a nice looking early 2000's Panasonic RX- series boombox with CD player for $8 at a charity store in Ashmore (a suburb on the Gold Coast,Australia

Would have have bought it, but didn't as I already have a Philips AZ1816 (2006) boombox.

Another weekend, another haul. Smile Funny thing is, I found *all 3* of these boxes in the exact same flea market. (Found the WM-F1 Walkman somewhere else.) Still have to clean, and check everything over. The D8347 (Cubooster) needs a little more attention than the others.

(EDIT: Part of the model number sticker is still intact on the back of the Cubooster, and I can make out a "7" as the last digit. Apparently this is a D8347, and *not* a D8348.)

Magnavox Cubooster / D8347 (grill's in rough shape, handle's broken on the right side, cassette deck's jammed / broken...for now Smile):

GE 3-6035 (At first I wasn't crazy about this box's refined looks, and digital tuner, but it has definitely grown on me. It's LOUD, *very* dense, and loaded with features. Overall, I'm quite impressed. One of my better boxes I'd say.):

GE 3-5532B (How often do I see an 8-Track boombox? Not very often, that's exactly why I grabbed this one.):

This last one's not a boombox, but I picked it up on the same day:

Sony Walkman, model WM-F1 (Interesting old school Walkman, featuring dual headphone jacks. Not bad at all.):

fatdog - 2008-10-13 14:48

That GE 3-6035 is quite nice. Thankfully, old man Ira is out on a trip or he would surely be drooling over this one. Nod Yes

This 3D lookalike Philips has had a couple of bad reviews for sound from members on here. I like the looks & would be interested to hear what you think about it... Smile

i bought one last year having always liked the look :

the sound was a big disappointment so i took it to bits and discovered why :

PLASTIC WOOFERS !!!!!!!

It promised so much with that row of four woofers but was a big disappointment.

I notice that the one pictured in superhitachi4's post above has chrome dustcaps - has it been upgraded, i wonder ?

gm - 2008-10-14 10:12

the jammed deck on the philips / magnavox should be recoverable by turning the flywheel gently back and forth from the inside.

isolator42 - 2008-10-14 10:25

Good old Philips with their plastic speaker baskets Smile
It does look like superhitachi4's find has different speakers...

...the piezos tweeters were never going to do much though, eh

gm - 2008-10-14 10:30

could make a fine project box though - stick in some proper woofers and a big amp...hmm, i should have kept it. d'oh !
