longest distance: JVC M90 from Potrokh. LA to London (the Auzzies & Kiwis will easily beat that).
dirtiest box: Hitachi CX200 from rimmer. OK, he cleaned the outside before I got it, but it was the same inside...
cheapest box: Pana RX DT610, free from my brother.
ugliest box: Pana RX-DT37:

or maybe the Kaboom?
longest awiting time: the CX200 from rimmer - he was busy Smile
longest search time: Philips AR073 (mono) 4 years & counting:

...please, someone turn one up for me?
If you have to actually have acquired it, then it's the Saisho T909 - took 3½ years to find one. Even though it was for sale as dead, I stuck a ridiculous max bid on it. Thankfully only a couple of other bidders cared & I got it for £23.

sinister - 2008-10-02 09:47

Yes, yes, do it! Smile It's a version of my personal grail the D8130 or D8132, which was either silver or grey. I've never seen this red, black & silver one...

fuzzyduck - 2008-10-03 11:42

Dirtiest has to be this one

Cheapest (in my collection as now) Philips D8634, £2.00.

Ugliest Kaboom

Heaviest Telefunken Studio 1M

arkay - 2008-10-05 07:04

Longest distance:
A couple of miles... I've only ever bought locally. However, a microphone came internationally!

Dirtiest box:
Not sure. I remember the dirtiest I've ever found/seen, but I didn't get it. It was COMPLETELY brown, as if it had been buried in a mudslide and dug out, after which no one had bothered to wipe it or wash it. Only the shape told you it was a boombox, and I had to use a tissue and some water and rub for a minute to see anything of the actual box. I decided NOT to get that one; it was just TOO unbelievably dirty!

Cheapest box you got:
Again, I don't remember. There have been a few around the $2.50 to $4.00 range. The cheapest in comparison with its value would probably have been the M90 for less than forty bucks. I've got free audio gear before, but I can't recall any free boomboxes.

Ugliest box:
The one on that 'ho' from.. Oh, ugliest boombox?! None; all my boxes are beautiful to me! Okay, that sounds like a cop-out, but it also has truth in it: I only buy boxes that appeal to me in some way, so if I really thought one was ugly, I wouldn't buy it. I pass up on ugly boxes all the time!

Longest waiting time
Probably the Marantz PMS-6000 with the fold-down turntable, in the original Marantz gold version. I've wanted one since before I was even into boomboxes. I do have a one, but it's a re-spray with the "Standard" brand name on the front. I'm still waiting for the original gold (not re-sprayed Unix or Standard) version. I'm also still waiting for the black version.

Longest search time?
See previous answer.
