80's GE box with tray-loading CD player?

ako - 2008-09-19 23:21

i saw a picture of this box once, long long ago, and didnt save it. it was definitely one of the coolest looking CD player boxes i'd ever seen. if anybody knows what box i'm talking about and has a pic, please post it up! looked like your standard mid-80s 3-piece with the kinda fake component look to the main body. thanks!

thanks jens! that's the one. i really want one of these!!! wasn't it also available in a cassette-only version?

It looks similar to a G.E. 3-5268 but with a CD.For that vintage,I'm surprised at the lack of a cassette deck!

Could this have been the very first CD/radio b-box?
...I know it's more of a transportable component system, but sold without a cassette deck, it must count, surely?

As I see it,it fits the boombox definition if it runs on batteries.Without a tape deck,I'm beginning to believe this is a photoshop job and not real...well...perhaps?

...I think you may be on to something there, Jovie! Laugh Out Loud

it definitely exists, as i once saw a GE commercial from the 80's containing the box. does anybody on here have one?
