Hey guys, I scored 2 new boxes last week. One, the Sony CF-520, was bought at the thrift store for only $3.00! They were having a 50% off sale so it would have been $6.00 ahaha, so cheap anyway.

The second one is a Prosonic, PQR-9850 model. I traded one medium sized bag of Starbucks coffee for this box! Yeah, all they wanted was some coffee, valued at $16.00 roughly. I think I got them both for a good price

I agree, the Sony is a nice unit, it sounds very good and the VU meters are really cool! The Prosonic is in MINT condition, other than one missing antenna, the rest of the unit is perfect. I had originally bought it to re-sell hehee, but the sound is awesome, and since I no longer have my beloved TRC-931, this is my new big box until I replace it, or get a good deal heh. I plan to open both up, but the Sony is first as I need to clean the grime off it bad!

The Starbucks coffee trade was rediculous. I saw the ad online and replied, and the old couple, yes an old couple, lived really close. They professed it was used as their computer speakers ahahaa. I'm glad to have them both!

I have the Tisonic version of your Prosonic but unfortunately it's seen better days. Yours looks fantastic, definitely a cool looking big box.

I've always been confused as to why it wasn't called the CFS-520. My CF-495 is a mono, and I originally thought the CF-520 was a mono too. The Sony Stereo 'box model numbers usually begin with 'CFS', and the monos are 'CF'. I thought the 'S' stood for Stereo.

Very nice boxes, both of them. The blue color on that Prosonic looks especially pretty!

That is what I say/think for all those LASONIC type of mid 80s Bbox with their colours! But that is me.....

I like the blue a lot too! It's nice and bright, and ads some flavour to a big silver wall ahaa. The Sony is quite nice, excellent sound for a small, twin speaker unit. VERY strong, as in it feels like excellent quality. I can't wait to clean it up a bit!

The blue ain't really that blue... The camera flash makes it appear brighter than it actually is.

I think a lot of people just don't want to deal with ePay, plus the chance of getting ripped off. Plus the packaging/shipping etc. That's why if I sell a boombox, it would only be local, or to trusted members of this forum
