Here's one that really falls through the cracks: the Panasonic RX-90. As you can see, it's a cube that's just a little wider and taller than a cassette is across. Speaker's on the left, controls on top, power on the right. Uses four AA's. AC is a 6v. adaptor. Just a strap (no handle), which might make it a walkman, except the Crown 850 has a strap without a handle, too, and it's definitely a boombox. So... is the RX-90 a boombox or walkman? You decide.

id say a box because it has a speaker for one, and an antenna.. still the strap counts as some sort of handle to me, and looks too bulky to fit in a pocket or clipped on to your belt...just my 2cent observation...

For me a boombox must have either a handle(s)or a carry strap mount(s).In fact the RX90 looks to have two strap mounts,one on either side.IMO that red Pana boomcube is a boombox.The Joyseven(?) above is also a boombox by definition despite what other marketing or target audience for which it was designed.
