Oh My Gosh!!!

fatdog - 2008-09-13 13:03

$1,500 for a Helix Wheely??!!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330269674422

Dag gum! That has to be a new record for that model. And the cassette players have problems. Roll Eyes

monolithic - 2008-09-13 13:07

Eek It goes without saying that that's waaaaaaaaaay too much money for that box! No No

fatdog - 2008-09-13 13:13

You got that right! The buyer is the same guy who has the "Breakin'" Conion. Not the original, but one done up almost just like it. He probably could have gotten it for about $1,000 less if he had waited the auction out.

- 2008-09-13 15:14

i thought asking 650.00 for my JC2000 was asking too much, i guess not. oh and mine doesn't have any deck issues Big Grin

skippy1969 - 2008-09-13 15:26

WTF,that seems crazy!!!! + 90.00 for shipping. What's the seller going to do for that much money? Ship it is a waterheater box?????? Roll Eyes Oh well,I hope the new owner like big empty boomboxes....... Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud

- 2008-09-13 16:37

seller is a pretty nice guy, he took scans of the owners manual page by page and sent it to me. he didn't have to go through the trouble

I like big empty boomboxes... They're much more easier on the arms. Razz

A replica? Roll Eyes How much did he pay?

fatdog - 2008-09-13 17:10

He didn't buy it. He had it.

Here's the old auction link:

http://cgi.ebay.com/Helix-Clairtone-Conion-ghettoblaste..._trksid=p3286.c0.m14

Relisted here:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170234196549

And then finally sold here (which I forgot about):

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=170238892541

monolithic - 2008-09-13 17:23

I see what you mean now. Wink

$500... I don't think that's a good price for that. Then again, almost all of that stuff can be removed and the grills can be repainted black to make it stock. Then again, both decks don't work...

One thing I know for sure is that that dude has some deep-ass pockets to cop that Helix at that price! Nod Yes

You ain't just whistlin' "Dixie!" Nod Yes

monolithic - 2008-09-13 17:33

I also see what you mean about lettin' the auction play itself out:

What the hell was that dude thinking?!? Confused How do you go from $200 to that?!? Confused Eek Confused

I think that's the most irrational BIN purchase I've ever seen!

reli - 2008-09-13 19:05

"No other way but through Jesus".......hmm, it doesn't look like He showed him the way this time.

- 2008-09-13 19:16

i thanked the seller for sending me a copy of the manual, he said the buyer picked the box up in person already. so at least he won't get a destroyed box in the mail

I Agree The "Son of God" failed him miserably! Laugh Out Loud

I guess the devil made him do it!

Dude didn't waste any time, did he? Big Grin

masterblaster - 2008-09-13 19:41

Never mind the issues with the deck its missing buttons!!! That is crazy

reli - 2008-09-13 19:42

The buyer is selling some GF777 stickers, so apparently he is at least halfway knowledgable about boomboxes Confused http://cgi.ebay.com/Sharp-GF-777-ghettoblaster-boombox-..._trksid=p3911.c0.m14

Maybe he's just rich and doesn't like waiting. Wait, if he's rich, why is he selling stickers on ebay Laugh Out Loud Laugh Out Loud

Actually, the buttons are included. Wink Why the seller didn't re-attach them (or had them re-attached) himself instead of makin' the next man do it is beyond me tho. Confused If I were the buyer and I kicked out $1500, I'd have told the seller "YOU'd better have my box straight before I show up at the door... It's the least YOU can do!" Roll Eyes

gluecifer - 2008-09-13 20:16

Jeezum crow! That's some ridiculous money right there. It's a cool radio to have, but one must draw the line somewhere well below four figures.

Autobot: Awesome work on getting scans of the manual.

Rock On.

jaredscottfla - 2008-09-13 20:34

Eek Tap Toes i just spent a little more the that in car repairs recently. Box is no big deal,an as for me,i'd rather have the 1500.00(maybe Jesus is helping him out) CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY...

jovie - 2008-09-13 21:14

Go easy on the guy.If he has $1500.00 he wants to spend that way, more power to him.Perhaps he's not buying it to make money off it as an investment. It could have been a childhood dream of his to have this box.Could he have gotten it for less?Probably.Did he want to wait?Obviously not.Is this an example of a trend towards higher prices?I don't think so.It's just an anomaly. If you wouldn't have paid that price that's obvious as you didn't want it enough to press "Buy it Now".Someone else has his $1500.00 now and he has the box.I'm sure both parties will be happy. That's all that matters.

vladi123456 - 2008-09-14 09:16

I've made some CRAZY purchases myself - even though I've never paid as much as $1500 - but I've come close a couple of times. With my reasoning being - I had the money at the time, and I wanted the boxes. Not very rational, but it was good enough for me

And no - it's not one of those $1000 boxes behind me
Big Grin

928gts - 2008-09-14 10:28

Personally I think even spending $500 on a box is pretty much nuts. This is also due to the case that I have nowhere near the budget some of you have towards these boxes. If it was something I *really* wanted I'd might let $300 go towards it.

no problem just sharing the wealth Nod Yes

masterblaster84 - 2008-09-14 14:58

Eek Someone overpaid big time but If he has the money and doesn't mind then so be it. If he would have waited I'm sure the actual sales price would have been far lower but sometimes you just gotta have it at all cost. Eek

I Agree

- 2008-09-14 16:52

the most i have ever paid for a box was 685.00 back in 2003 (JVC M90) but i enjoyed it for several years and sold it for every penny i had in it plus about a 75.00 profit Big Grin

weylandyutani - 2008-09-19 22:55

Could be a set up it will probably be relisted again soon due to an alegid time waster, not a bad way to trick people into thinking its worth a bit more.Just a thought anyway. Although different i am quite happy with my 12 dollar helix4636/ESC. And thats NZ dollars haha Eek

funny thing is, those arent even original stickers. you can tell by the letters on "Super" in super woofer. the font is supposed to all be Avant Garde, but the first couple letters appear to be botched Arial. not real stickers by any means.
