This is the end of a long quest

anthiny - 2008-09-13 10:58

Thanks to Oldskool69's find of a message PeteyAwol left on the board . The GarbageMan strikes again i had the opportunity to Obtain something that was once stolen away fom me way back in 1992 . Peteyawol and I have been speaking to each other via Aim and Personal E-mail for sometime and He had a turn of heart when it came to this Panasonic Rx-c300-2 . He e-mailed me last week and had said if i want to purchase the Panasonic unti that i could from him ! He is a man of his word and has a heart of gold , He prommised me that if it came time to sell this unit that i would be the fisrt one he would inform ! Due to Oldskool saying in a post that He knows of an idiviual whom is hard up for one of these units to PeteyAwol. PeteAwol gave me the shot and of course After 17 years of looking and Hunting i would have only said Yes let's do it ! I want to say with the highest level of respect that PeteyAwol is a man of great integrity and a man of his word ! Its an awesome thing to have this Panasonic RX-c300 in my hands once again !
I want to take the Time to thank the Founders and All users of Stereo2go for Having such a great resource for finding these Great Radios / Ghetto blatster / Boomboxes . I am greatfull for all whom have helped and all whom had guided me along the way to find what meant to much to me !
And a large thank you to PeteyAwol for taking into concideration my story for Why i was trying so hard to find one of these units'
He is an Awesome Guy and I have to add he packed the living hell out of the box and insured that the radio would come in one Piece . oh it was packed better from him than Panasonic did when i recieved this radio Brand new in the Box for christmas 1986
Thank you all
Oldskool69 and PeteyAwol are great individuals and they are Great people to contact within all of these forums ! They are what Makes stereo2go such a Great Place ............

Great story and good to hear you re-obtained a chidhood box that was stolen from you. Cool
I have a similar story about my Rising Src 2015.
I was jumped when I was younger and mine was smashed with a bat along with my face. Mad
After about a year of being on S2G I finally was reunited with mine.
This site is a great resource with some very helpful members. I Agree
I love reading threads like this one.
Congrats!!!

petey.awol - 2008-09-13 17:55

i'm just super happy that box made it in one piece. Its a heavy bastard. Something like 23.5 lbs. Anthony, you're a good dude and dealing with you was real easy. No hassels, no nothing. Thank you for the kind words and giving me a better reputation with these boombox wizards. Hopefully, my wish list will be filled out with the help of these men and women. Good luck with that radio.

My wish list :
Promax J-1 (hopefull)
Conion 100 (doubtful)
JVC m90 (i must be on crack)

ford93 - 2008-09-13 18:49

There have been a few questions regaurding how much the panasonic rx-c300's had been New between 1985-1988 . Well i know the price sticker on the one i had brand new out of the box was 375.00 with out the 10d Batteries . It was the King . Now for petey Awol that Can-100 you looking for . Hmmmm i would check every flea market and garage sale and swap meet on long island . Due to the simple fact that i know a hell of alot of them had been sold around queens and valley stream flea markets back in the day ! I have a few people searching there garages and basements an attic's as we speak ! I know i had one....Gave it away when i got this rx-c300 as a christmas present !

Great story Anthiny, nothing better than completing a quest like that. That's a rare beast that most of us have never seen up close so I'm glad someone here could hook you up.

anthiny - 2008-09-19 04:02

Yes it does . it sure does .....

prime - 2008-09-19 16:11

I believe the RX-C300 is the only box in the world
with a vacuum fluorescent spectrum analyzer.

Total eye candy... Nod Yes

anthiny - 2008-09-21 12:03

wow HMMMMMM could that be true about the spectrum display ! I would love to find a new display for the unit the lights seem a little weak . I Have cleaned the contacts to the Board but they still seem like they could be brighter! Or i will just leave well enough alone .

That would be the best bet as there isn't any kind so bulb to change out. These are sort of like a flourescent light. So you really don't want to open these up. Smile
